Here's what I heard, dumbed down to protect the source...

The A-L RNC has a memory leak issue  that is only apparent under "peaky load types" -  it is much less apparent with steady base loads.
The Auckland RNC  has a higher consistent base load than Chch and so  does not suffer from the issue.
