PhoneChick: This will tell you if the device will work or not. Need the IMEI number first though. http://www.telecom.co.nz/mobile/ournetwork/phonecompatibility

Sure you didn't use the IMEI from one of those Chinese knock offs dual SIM with TV receiver?

Entered the IMEI for my Telstra Touch Pro 2, using the provided link. I had never used it before.

HTC RHOD110

Your device supports the following frequencies:

  • GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz

  • WCDMA 850/2100MHz

It definitely detects the correct WCDMA frequencies of 850/2100

To be absolutely sure, if it comes in a Telecom, AT&T or Telstra box. The TP2 will be Telecom XT compliant.  Nothing else on my phone suggests that its a generic or 850 model apart from entering the IMEI.

The generic model TP2 is  T7373.
The 850/2100 model TP2 is T7381.

Unfortunately this isnt noted on the phone itself but I'm sure it's somewhere on the box. I'll dig out my Telstra box from the garage and have a nosey later.

Friend managed to get a cocked up rom on his HTC which made it list 850 as supported, but it didnt work on it, It would see the 2100 and drop calls all the time.

I have an opportunity to get an AT&T TP2 (branded as AT&T Tilt2). I know that it'll most likely need to be unlocked, but I'm wondering whether I might have any other problems (AT&T APNs etc hardcoded?). Does anyone know whether it's possible to flash the official Telecom 6.5 ROM onto an AT&T device?

You will be able to flash the Telecom 6.5 rom onto the Tilt2, after applying HardSPL. You will also require the AT&T keyboard fix as the keyboard configuration differs from all other TP2s.

Thanks for that. I still need to decide whether to get the phone or not, but it's good to know that it can be "un-AT&T'd".

hey i noticed you re-flashed ur pro2 to energy rom, i like it too!  currently using the mar version, like to have the start button at bottom left corner!  however, does this violat any warranty?  so tempted to re-flash my work phone but am worried it may creat trouble using the xt network...

I just entered the IMEI of my Telecom-provided phone and it told me that it's 900/2100 and will only provide limited coverage :P

List the phone make and Model and the TAC (first 8 digits of the IMEI) so Telecom NZ can fix it

@reekydesert Did you figure out which model you have? I found the model number for my TP2 in the 'Identity' tab of 'Device Information' in System settings (WM 6.5, not sure if this is the case on other roms). As Damager said, yours will be the 850/2100 model if it is a T7381 (or 900/2100 if it is a T7373).

The Telecom compatibility check didn't recognise my TP2's IMEI at all.

Sony Ericsson W705a, 35180703 ... I wonder whether the 900 MHz version has the same TAC.
