freitasm: It's a TVNZ problem. I was informed by them last night "Hi the teams have just isolated the issue. It was an upstream provider. Fix being worked on should be sorted by AM"

Seriously bad. Completely off topic but... when we moved Geekzone servers to the Datacom datacentre I tested from the hotel in Auckland, which used FX Networks and got 2 ms.

If you want a hotel with good fast Internet, Rydges is the way to go!

Yeah @freitasm I get 13 hops as well to Geekzone, from an Auckland DSL connection. Looks almost identical to above - I wonder what those 3 hops on 121.98.9 are?

Also, not sure about anyone else but there's no tvnz.co.nz action for me here yet. Traces look the same as they did yesterday.

To be fair there are 3 hops in Global Gateway as well.
Factor in handoff from one provider to another and then onto Datacom and 13 hops adds up quickly.

Its not as direct as it could be... I would be interested in the return path TCP Trace to a Telecom DSL line:)

The issues with TVNZ.co.nz are not DNS related, but it seems a proxy in an indirect upstream provider is causing this issue.
We are actively trying to get this resolved.
