Looks like we could be jumping to a conclusion now

Taken from The Telecom Top Up Page

Every time you top up with $20 or more you'll get something cool. Plus, if you do it before 31 May 2011, you'll go in the draw to win a worldwide beach holiday worth $50,000 - head to our Top Up and Win site now!

Looks like they are yet to announce the replacement to bonus top ups

I don't like this promotion from the point of view it seems like a way to sneek up prices by removing the bonus topups
It won't make me switch from 2degrees

i WOULD switch to 2 degrees but i send way too many text messages, and some of my friends phones cant even receive phone calls (crappy r100 phones are broken in some way)

and still one or two wouldnt be able to text me since they are STILL on CDMA -__-

ive sent about 5000 texts this month, and i have to change it to text 5000 before the end of this month too.

not happy telecom, not happy.

I spend $30 a month on my text plan and my data plan.

Dynamike: Just read their FAQ page... "Top Up and Win" does not apply to T-Sticks!

http://www.topupandwin.co.nz/findoutmore/faqs.cfm

"I have a Prepaid T-Stick can I play?
Sorry, no. This competition is for Telecom Prepaid mobile phones only"

You are still eligible to enter considering t sticks are capable of sending and receiving SMS via the standard software. As mentioned before obviously the free ringtone or minutes etc would be useless. But you would still be able to win other prizes, like iPods, Phones, Cameras etc.

There's no reason to use the $60 topup now (well, from Feburary); just do three $20s and you'll get three prizes instead of one. The prizes really should scale with the topup amount.

Just topped up my 027 CDMA phone and got 20 international minutes, which is pretty good. Topped up my XT T-Stick and got 10 international minutes...pity I can't use them :(

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I prefer the bonus topups but pretty happy that I got that today along with 120MB free data :-)

Just curious - wonder if the amount you top up changes the value of the prize? Or what digging tool you use.  I topped up by $60 and used my "paws".

that is a pretty good prize. better value than the $5 you would have gotten with bonustopup, although you if you don't ever use your phone for int calling then you might not value it that much.
More standard voice mins would be better as you are more likely to use them.  i.e. if you get 20 anytime mins instead that would have cost you 20 x 89c = $17.80. worth waaay more than the $5 you would have otherwise gotten with bonus topup if you do a bit of calling anyway.
On the other hand if you win a ringtone it's probably not that good.

So how do you get the reward code if you use telecom data on an ipad (which cant recieve SMSs)?  Or do Ipad users just lose the extra credit and not get the replacement?

Is this TCNZ's fault?

I don't remember Telecom NZ been involved in the design of the ipad

NealR did you work on the ipad project with Steve J?

Well Telecom did push out to ipad users to attract them  (although actually I have not found their coverage on xt to be that much greater than vodafone).  Last November on Geekzone there was a discussion as to how to topup on the ipad, and telecom said 'watch this space'.  Well I'm still watching.

I thought the bonus top up is just a promotion to attract prepay customers. Now that promotion is ending at the end of jan and telecom has come up with a different promotion, which in many people's view according to here is not as good as the bonus top up. I think we've been spoiled, promotion don't last forever.

So much fail Telecom. What am I going to do with 50 free international texts? Luckily I still got the bonus $20 for my $60 top up yesterday. Once this credit runs out, I'll be re-evaluating my options and may go back to 2degrees. At least with 2degrees you know what you are going to get when you top up, none of this stupid "OMG OMG what will I win!?" business.
