I agree with Ben with the update my Apache seems to be faster, especially going from portrait to landscape. Also like the Bluetooth / wife / phone manager.

Was there anything else that was improved other than syncing / email / exhange server?

cheers

Are you saying the upgrade made the wife go faster? Hmm must be time to upgrade my apache then. What kind of performance increases can i expect out of her?

We should really say thanks to Jama for allowing this to happen. I know there were some obstacles to overcome, and while Telecom is not prepared to have that on their site yet, it was great to be able to get some of you guys a first hands on this release.

So have I missed the boat with the ftp server?  Directory seems to have disappeared.  Any one else care to post or email upgrade?

Thanks

Are you saying the upgrade made the wife go faster?

could you elaborate on the 'wife going faster' comment?

haha WIFI I currently have the flu and a new keyboard, and I did not say it went FASTER please re-read my second POST , I don't use WIFI (have no need at this time) I was talking about the Connection Manager and the NEW look. If someone does use wifi does the update increase the speed.

Thanks again.

Actually, now you mention it, it does appear that the negotiation with my home wifi AP (WPA secured) seems HEAPS faster than it did with the previous build.

Previously initial negotiation (after you turn wifi on) would take about 10-15 seconds, but if you turned the Apache off, then on again, renegotiation would take ages (30+ seconds sometimes).

Now it seems to be able to negotiate and connect inside 10 seconds regardless of the conditions (WiFi just turned on, device just turned on, device back in range).  nice.

Ben is right... My Apache is now much faster to reconnect to my network at home, when compared with its previous version.

Many thanks Jama! This is excellent. Its like getting a new phone/pda!

The voice speed dial is potentially useful, but do I have to select the program from the Start Menu everytime I want to make a call? This is the same number of clicks as using speeddial.

Voice dial should be assigned to the 'record' button in the new build.  If not use the 'Buttons' control panel applet to assign it!

They've given the record button push-and-hold functionality to enable recording.  I never use voice recording, so I've assigned the push-and-hold to MortSaver (best app ever if you listen to a lot of audio/music on your apache! MortSaver is a one-button app to turn off the screen and lock all buttons).

Hey Ben when I had a look at the button control and it had already defaulted to Voice Dial for press and Recording press & hold.... it is really good, I use a metal case for my Apache with out the clip as I it carry it in my pocket, so press the record button and bing go speak and it dials perfect, now I wish it would work over bluetooth.... maybe in another life.
