I have been recently eyeing up these $19 plans myself since moving off a Vodafone plan onto 2 Degrees prepay a few months ago.

With the lack of decent coverage around my house from 2D and comparatively high standard prices of Vodafone it now leaves Telecom as a very decent option for me, However the plan cancelling after being unable to be renewed is sad to see as it renders it almost useless to me because I am unable to predict when I'll be able to top up.

$10 Top Ups and $5 Simcards however are both very nice to see and something that would be nice to see adopted across the board, I seem to remember 2 Degrees having cheap simcards which does not seem to be the case now.

You have 33-34 days to give Telecom $19 somehow (aka, a month and 3 days) - You can topup anytime, you don't need to sell your soul, you don't need to sell your firstborn each and every time, just go down to some shop or use your debit card and top up, there is plenty of time.

Here's hoping this doesn't have to be explained again on each page.

Also, you'll get many texts alerting you to topup, or use the Calendar on your phone to remind you near when you get paid.

Still doesn't explain what happens after October 31??  Are there going to be no $19 ~ $20 prepay plans.   No one has said anything about this??

Presumably the promotion ends and that plan is no longer available for people to sign up to.  If you already have it then you can keep getting it every month.

The day after 31st October is 1st November,  which is usually when Xmas offers start coming in from the Telcos.   Who knows what they are going to be but they are usually pretty good.

I guess we'll find out from 1 Nov?  The 'limited time offer' is a well used sales technique to try and force customers to make a decision.  There is no point in saying what will come after, as that removes the time pressure and tips their opposition off.

The whole reason I am on Prepay is I don't want to be tied down to a contract term.  Telecom can't afford to have nothing in place from 1 Nov because people will just switch.  I will purchase a Prepaid 2 Degrees SIM at some stage to go with my Telecom and VFNZ ones.  Switching is as simple as changing the SIM and sending a group text to my contacts.

You can keep it, assuming you don't let it expire :)

I think (almost 100%) you'd be able to run two packs concurrently as long you allow then to renew. I.e. you could add one pack today, and another pack in two weeks time,or even two packs today. If you have credit for both to renew then they should do exactly that.

Edit: All prepaid subscriptions renew on an anniversary date, which isn't configurable by a customer other than to cancel the auto renew and repurchase the subscription pack on a suitable date. After the 31st of October this would not be possible for this subscription value pack.

My understanding is that as long as you're on it you can stay on it after 31 Oct, as long as you don't let it expire.

Why not just port your number. To 2degrees you can just do it online and it takes a few business hours. Then you don't have to SMS people with a new number.

Such a great package. I'm about to get my partner a sim and right now I can't decide on provider.

I know you can easily port but from what I've heard there are issues with text messages from banks and the likes of google.

I suspect your trying to do what you can do on Skinny and that is  buy another  pack if you use the current one up early.  I've tried this on Telecom prepay and it doesn't work..

Oh but you can, as long as the pack is available for sale (i.e. this pack is only available for sale up until 31/10/12). It would then be set to auto re-new, but you can simply disable this to in effect make it a one off.

What I was saying before, is it would be possible to subscribe to two of these packs (auto renewing), so 120mins, 10,000SMS and 900MB for $38 if you needed more minutes, SMS or Data.

Both pack's and any other pack you purchase can co-exist currently.

Because I want to be able to change out SIMs on a whim. Or are you suggesting I can have 3 SIMs from different networks with the same number? Because prepaid accounts can sit dormant needing only an annual topup it is better than the hassle of porting.

if you can manage weekly
$4 Skinny combo

$4 600mb combo
would net you 2440mb of data for $32 a month and whatever minute or text amounts you need (using 4 weeks to a month for approx). If you chose text bomb you could have 20004 texts a month.
