The Spark Jump solution doesn't include a digital device, but the supplied in home router does has wifi, so if the user has a smart phone (quite common for our families) then they'll get internet on their phone.

...But there is always more need than there is capacity to meet that need.

One of my main concerns is that there will be a shortage of suitable devices, especially if the scheme expands. To be honest I wouldn't want to use a smartphone for homework etc.

Agreed, smartphone is not ideal, but just like 30GB it's better than nothing which is what we're dealing with day to day.

Rikkitic - I don't think there is a CIH partner in Napier or Hastings. I suggest you contact 2020 directly as they may know someone there. One of the senior people at 2020 was the key instigator of eDay and so is passionate about sensible reuse/disposal of old gear.

Quickymart - if your sister qualifies (school kids at home and no internet) and lives in Waikato then please get her in contact with me. The deal is when the 30GB runs out, the customer buys more data at the same price $15 for another 30GB.

I would as she qualifies, but sadly she lives in Greymouth - however she can get 4G coverage so she should be okay to use this. How does she go about getting one? Free router would be great for her.

Our trust has only a small allocation, so we really can't issue any outside of Waikato.

I recommend you contact 2020 Trust.

Keep in mind, there is still some detail to be sorted out, so expect it to take perhaps a month for us to all figure out exactly how this works.

Those sorts of statistics speak volumes IMHO.

I've tried reaching out to the Spark Foundation to find out about this for my sister but nothing so far frown
