"3) Here's the fastest broadband available for you:  fibre 100/20"

I find this misleading when i can get faster broadband from other providers.  You haven't even included a disclaimer in small writing informing customers that even faster broadband is available.  I assume it should be "here is our fastest broadband plan available for you".  Will you be correcting this?

pretty sure we know the answer to this question, but for the sake of clarity can you confirm whether you are doing master filter installs on VDSL?

The answer will be no, Not even Spark does it anymore

most likely yes.

i will say this, i love opening accounts and seeing "Please install master filter" on the entry order for VDSL.

always is a promising step forward....

@SkinnyBB is there any sort of change over option for those on the current prepaid 4G based broadband with Skinny?

@SkinnyBB Looks like you might need to ask unlimitedinternet.co.nz to adjust their marketing.

If you're in an area where VDSL is available (like me) then your new non-contract plan is now the cheapest.

Spark no longer install a Master Filter on a new VDSL order.  Just been thru this and fortunately the previous person  in this new house also had a VDSL and had a filter installed..

Nope. If your place needs a master filter you can either choose ADSL or get one installed at your own cost.

Good call. We'll change that.

apologizes i could have worded that better, i was agreeing with @yabanize that Spark no longer do filter installations by default.

LivingSkinny: H
We’ve introduced contracts for the first time ever, to give customers the option of being able to get a preferred price of only $58 per month for the first year and $88 per month for the second (over a 24 month term). This comes with a free modem and standard connection fee included. ETC fees apply.

I dont think I would ever sign up to a contract for a brand new service

Ive been caught twice before, sign up onto another internet provider . Find the internet speed(not connect speed) & is appallingly bad. Have ongoing arguements
over cancellation fees for a product thats near unusable .
You'd have to be very confident in the product to sign up for 2 years .

Yabanize:

You save just under $30 by using the contract option.

Both are great options IMO, I just think 24 is a long time to commit to something, would rather get the off contract option

thats a whopping $1.17 per month saving, for the option of being locked in for 2 years
A really bad choice ? Why even offer it ?

Well, clearly there are a whole lot of people who just see "bargain" when they look at these crazy lopsided two step/24 month contracts and no matter what the logic is, if you want their custom you need to look like a bargain in thew same way. Personally the idea of signing up to a 24 month contract for anything in telecommunications seems crazy to me, but remember Skinny is a mass market brand and sometimes the mass wants something that is illogical to a person who would frequent Geekzone.

I like the no contract option but we're using VOIP so I'd need to figure out what to do for a phone. Has anybody got this working with 2 Talk?

It's a natted connection which people have had mixed results with. I have had voip working on a 2talk cgnat connection but it was only any good when it was on a device behind the router. Trying to use the ATA in the router (a ciscoy-linksys one) almost never gave both way audio. Swapping for a crap grandstream ata on the lan and it was much better but still the odd no audio call which was acceptable for the situation but probably not for most people.

I'm still thinking about this and giving up VoIP. Even buying a more expensive pre pay plan for the hubby's cell so he can contact his non cell phone using mates we'd still come out a bit ahead as long as the price stays this low.
