You'll need two, otherwise it's just mono :)

The reception on those tends to be a bit fuzzy but otherwise they're purrfect.

Is all tethering excluded, or just data tethering? For example, can I tether to my car audio device, and my bluetooth headphones and speakers? I'm sure it is mention somewhere in their T&Cs, but isn't in the 'Key info' section.

I feel like adding exceptions like this are pretty iffy.

Personally my spark sim, is a share open plan. I use this so that i've got my spark sim in my second slot, however in the event i'm out in the middle of nowhere and i need slightly better gain i can use the hotspot (which has the shard data sim normally) with antennas and "Tether" my mobile to that.

Unfortunately for me, that counts out this plan

In Asia unlimited mobile data is quite common. They generally allow hotspots but they throttle it so you can't stream video etc but still browse the web etc. I think this would be an acceptable compromise.

Spark is now the undisputed king of cellular radio spectrum having further increased their lead with their purchase of Woosh's 2300 MHz spectrum.

I expect you will increasingly see Spark slightly undercutting VF and 2DM from here on in. They aren't going to dramatically undercut because they're trying to make a good profit still.

I added my two cents to @Spark and @JasonCParis about allowing a small amount of tethering each month. I would switch immediately if it did. I suspect a lot of people would.

But then where is the line drawn? It should be a flat out unlimited plan if they are going to bother, Apparently they can audit that usage out.
If its anything like the "Fair Use Policies" ISP's have that have never been used I wouldn't worry.

It is ironic that their Unlimited plan is the most Limited they offer.

They're never going to offer truly unlimited data on cell networks. Any time a cell company says unlimited and data in the same sentence, it should be taken with a huge slice of scepticism.

If they actually did offer truly unlimited data, overseas experience shows that the network would almost completely grind to a halt.

I would like them to just be upfront. Define a clear allowance on overall usage, and a clear allowance on tethering.

It is nonsense to say "it's unlimited, until you hit 22Gb, then it's slower unlimited until we think you've used an unreasonable amount, and you're not really supposed to tether but you might get away with it if you just do a little bit that we don't notice".

Having played with band 40, it is certainly a nice portion.

The other bands are more than capable however. I'm sitting in 700 + 1800 CA in the office here getting 133mbit down on a CAT4 device.

This already happens now on capped RBI plans. Quite a few areas when mobile network grinds to a halt at night.

@tripper1000 - just confirming re your sig - if you have naked broadband VDSL and no devices other than the VDSL modem, there's no need for a master filter?

I don't believe on a technical level that can really be done. The only way you can detect tethering on non iOS devices (which you can fully control) is via TTL. Rating that would be very difficult.

Yes you can't do that. It is in their T&C's that it can only be used in mobile phones.

Actually it says:

Important to know: After 22GB of usage max data speeds will reduce. No tethering or hotspot. Personal NZ use on mobile only.

I’d love for them to try dispute a tablet or laptop using their SIM directly is NOT a “mobile” device. After careful reading of the T&C’s they never once mention “mobile phone”... just “mobile” 🤔
