Oh right two phones....

I've always thought that was daft (no offence to you sir, just the whole two phones thing) why have two numbers and be a pain when you have just one number and one cellphone.

Fair enough, but i have a samsung w531 now i no its a horrible phone but the fact that the sim tray can be unlocked for use is great when running two networks. :)

Yuck the Samsung W531. I have it and it is not nice. The worst bit is that Telecom refuses to offer any support for it and they barely acknowledge it even exists.

Dr Quack, Boost Txt is particularly popular with teenagers. At least in Rotorua, I've found the majority of people have Telecom phones. Some people have a Telecom phone and a Vodafone phone, and then a few have only a Vodafone phone. For that reason, you can get away with having Boost Txt if you're a heavy txter.

Actually same here prokayaker. I swallowed the $300 cost of the Sammy when I bought it, but swallowing the cost of a $900 iPhone is going to be much, much worse. I'm hoping for a little price drop, or even better, for the 3rd gen iPhone to come out and cause the TradeMe prices on the current iPhone to fall a bit.

Alternative is to get an iPod touch and then just a cheap XT phone. If I glue them together, it's just like having an iPhone!

boost txt was removed as xt focuses on "one rate, all networks, all the time" so "telecom phone only" boost txt did not fit with the products.

The plans are as follows:
150 texts for $6
600 texts for $12
1500 texts for $18

The txt messages included are to any new zealand mobiles.

Choose the option that you want.

Account customers:
charged in advance on account on your billing cycle.

Prepaid customers:
deducted as you send up to the threshold on prepay at which point you get the remainder free until the next calender month.

150 texts for $6 (charged for first 30 on pp)
600 texts for $12 (charged for first 60 on pp)
1500 texts for $18 (charged for first 90 on pp)

Other addons are charged the same by methods so remember to run them up at the start of each month.

Something I don't think I have seen mentioned anywhere on GZ, is fact $10 text is gauranteed until March 2010, whats going to happen after this?

I've heard many people say XT sucks because they would lose their current boost text plan, so they will stay with CDMA phones until the network closes. However is Telecom likely to extend $10 text/boost next year until network end date, or just say thats the end of that which will have a huge effect and cause most people still using CDMA phones to shift to XT.

I guess I don't have any idea if Telecom ideally want to shift as many people as possible to XT as soon as possible, or whether they are happy to have the changeover be gradual until the shut down CDMA?

Wait and see what 2 Degrees mobile offers in August when they launch.
