Of course this would also block legititimate services for example train notifications that cost 20c, this would not be operable in that case.

Regulation around how these services are operated with strict rules and punishments makes a lot more sense.

My 78-year-old mother has been receiveing these txt messages from nz.funmobile.com, and as much as you txt STOP they do not stop.  I have phoned them and still they sent another message.  These messages cost $5 each and come in lots of 4 at a time, my bill has $70 worth of charges on it, which Telecom are going to credit back.  Thanks to this site I have reported them by texting SPAM and reporting the complaint on the web to the Department of Internal affairs.  This has to be made illegal and I am going to do everything I can to help in this process.  How many older people out there are being scamed out of there pensions like this, and just by doing nothing they are being charged to be sent a scam text message.  You bet I'm angry, and I'll fill in any statment the commision wants to get them stoped.

I just called that number. There's an automated voice asking for your mobile number. You should try again and follow the prompts.

Alex, I recommend you follow Neal's advice:
NealR: I strongly recommend you contact the NZ Government Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) and lay a complaint through them.

The first step is to forward one of the "Funmobile" text messages to 7726 (SPAM).

The following link has more detail on the DIA complaints process.

I tried phoning them as well and they did say they would stop the text messages but they continued to come, so I emailed them from there web site and this worked.

Just wanted to inform you that we have shut off short code 4144 (Funmobile). Effective immediately.
