rugrat: I changed plan and my ping went from 18 to 42ms.

I'll ring them and ask for interleaving to be turned off, wondered what caused that.

My speeds have remained about the same.

Same here - after changing to one of the new data plans my ping went from 20ms to 106ms!

A phone call was required to get them to turn interleaving off.

This has been observed by a number of customers and I saw a note going out to support staff when changing peoples plans to make sure they check the interleaving to make sure they don't have it turned back on by accident.  So it's worth mentioning when speaking on the phone if you currently have it off make sure you ask them to ensure it stays turned off.

I filled in the plan change form online and interleaving was back on after the plan change for us. Have put in a request to get it turned off.

Since cabinestisation improved the Chorus network so much why don't Telecom make interleaving off the default thesedays?

Quick question please.
I'm currently with the 120GB Total Home Broadband package for $105/month.

Does the $99 plan for 150GB plan include the phone line (which is $40 give or take)?

Thanks.

I changed my plan online today.. seems like I would have to get back in touch with them to ensure that interleaving hasnt turned on by default.

But in my case my plan is changing when my data rolls over after 5 days. So what should I do in this case..? Call them now (to ensure it doesnt have interleaving on) or wait for 5days and once the new plan has kicked in then check my ping and then call them back..??

Give it a day, and then call them. They should then be able to confirm if the order that has been entered has interleaving on or off.

We changed to the 500GB plan over the phone, was advised that the change would take 24hrs.

The following afternoon after seeing no change to our usage meter, we phoned Telecom and the change was processed and reflected on our usage meter within 15 minutes of the phone call.

applied online saturday night, live by sunday lunch (when I checked).

Noticed ping to first hob was 50-60ms, used web form to ask for it off, was turned off at midnight day after request, pings back down to 11-12ms.

500GB is HEAPS.

Thanx for that .  When I get back to work on Wednesday I'll be upgrading. Pity you can't order the 200Gig plan online like the other plans..

Beware, I just switched from Vodafone to Telecom 500GB plan. The speed to download on Torrent is just average 5KBps despite my download speed is 9MB when doing speedtest.

The download speed is average at 1MBps for the last two years with Vodafone.

I contacted Telecom support team and I was told that I am on the same server as before. but I was not given any advice because Telecom does not provide any support for "torrent".

I asked Telecom do you guys actually sharp torrent traffic, the answer is NO. However, the speed for doing other things such as watching on Youtube, iTunes is very good.

So thinking carefully before switching to Telecom if you do download a lot on P2P.......

HI zpempire. There is no shaping on the 500GB plan. I am on a 160GB plan and all types of traffic (including torrenting) go at the expected speeds for me. Please don't 'warn' people based on your single experience which is not going to be anything to do with traffic shaping.

I see you have posted this in another thread too and there are a couple of hints there already - I'm sure this is an easily resolved problem.

Cheers - N
