I haven't been able to access extra email at all today. I think they have yet again reset my password. So going to have to get it it fixed when I get home.

I am a brand new first time Telecom xtra customer. I set up by Apple email using auto set up, then manually checking all settings against the Telecom Help pages (which have now been updated for Mavericks), all settings are correct. BUT still unable to connect to the xtra (yahoo) email servers.

I refuse to ring their help desk (wait desk) to be told to do what I have already done. So I will just keep checking daily till they get their act together.

TO Telecom, how about spending our money on your own servers in stead of a corporate name & logo change.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

If you are a new Telecom user, here is a piece of advice: DO NOT USE THE XTRA EMAIL.

Just use a GMail, Outlook.com or any other service. Don't get tied to your ISP, it makes it harder to move things later.

Why in the name of all that is holy would you choose to use xtra email as a new customer?

I can see why people might want to persevere if they have had a business with that email address for years or something like that, and changing would cost you a lot in reprinting stuff, but.... With you?? Why?

(But on the other hand, if you refuse to actually ask for help from them, then I don't know how you expect it to suddenly start working)

That sort of attitude will get you no-where....
Chances are you've done something wrong, as it works for pretty much everyone else.
You need to ring them to check the logon/password, to check settings at your end .
Have you logged into webmail , do that & it may then just all start working

BTW, last I checked there were STILL old pages on the Telecom site with old wrong email setup info.
And as others mentioned, its a rubbish email service . Use Outlook.com or Gmail instead .

check that your account actually works by going to www.xtramail.co.nz then try login on your client

1 - Log into xtra.co.nz web mail with your user name  (email) and password.  It might make you go through a Captcha process - do it else you iwll never recevie emails via pop.

2 - If that works use the settings in three below otherwise:
Check your username nad password.
Phone xtra to change your username nad password as it is likely to be wrong.

3 - Settings:
POP: pop3.xtra.co.nz
Port 995
SSL turned on.
User: full email address
Password: Only you and god and xtra know that. If others know it change it.

SMTP:
Server: send.xtra.co.nz
Port 465
SSL Turned on. Accept any cert option if you have it might help.

User authentication and password required to log in.

If SSL and 465 dont work try TLS and 587 - but dont use this unless really desperate.

It would be an interesting spoof as it was from my clients email address, to my business address. most spoofs arent from one person who knows someone to another. Its to someone random.

My opinion - hacked again!!!!

I am still getting these intermittent popup login boxes from telecom / xtras mailserver. It is really sub standard stuff. I wonder when they are actually going to fix it.
