There was a young man quite laconic
Whose Internet needed a tonic
He discovered Big Pipe
And could no longer gripe
Now his UFB ran supersonic

who really cares about UFB.  As was suggested by Dr Allan Freeth, a few years back,

"the main benefit of true high-speed broadband at home may simply be faster porn and movie downloads, and that there would be no impact on productivity"

I'm old enough to remember similar comments about ADSL2 and VDSL  smile

I saw those on my street, unfortunately at the roundabout 3 houses up from mine, the diggers went down another street instead of continuing down and trenching the whole street so I missed out and theres no date for when I can get UFB :(

Non Geeks should get UFB so they can mock their Geek friends who cant get UFB, Fibre wont transmit lightening so less chance of blown routers, and ethernet ports on computers in an electrical storm.

UFB is awesome and Non-geeks should sign up because when you click, it should work.  Gifs? Play.  Videos?  Play.  Photos?  Loaded.  Software update?  No waiting.  TVNZ Ondemand HD?  Play.  Download a movie on IOS?, 5 minutes, not 2 hours.  3 way HD Skype without lag?  No problem.  Uploading photos to make a Photobook? No more waiting.  Uploading to facebook/instagram?  Instant.

Because you shouldn't have to ever see this:

Non-geek don't hate computers, they hate waiting.  With UFB there is no more waiting.  Sh*t just happens.

Actually, that could be a good new slogan.  BigPipe - where Sh*t just happens.

Because for the first time Kiwi's will have the chance to get a solid connection without their home wiring playing such a major role as it had with adsl/vdsl.

UFB isn't just for Geeks! It's for everyone and everyone can benefit from it. Why?

At home:

  • You have access to content and services you may not have been able to get before UFB like HD & UHD IPTV.
  • Gamers love it because of the low latency and more stable connection properties.
  • Elderly have access to health services and monitoring from rather than having to go somewhere.
In business:

  • Small business no longer have to pay the earth for a fibre connection and a bloody awesome one at that.
  • Sharing and creating content between sites, customers and other business is lightening fast no matter where in the world they are.

UFB will grow and create new opportunities for New Zealanders, bringing the rest of the world closer and more accessible than ever before.
With ISP's like Big Pipe pushing the boundaries of price, uncapped data plans and services it's impossible not to benefit from UFB!

Great entries peeps.
I know we said we'll announce winners today, but instead we're going to the pub to make our short list and will announce on Monday. :)

Make a decision before getting drunk and then make a decision when you're drunk and see if the results change.
