No, you may be wrong, I just tried a Vodafone NZ sim in MY device, and I can assure you it didn't work, for whatever reason. Like I said, I quote from the rep: "Due to the nature of the promotion, the device provided may be locked."
To say that it is locked just because it didnt work for you is extremly narrow minded.
I apologize for saying that people were wrong, although I did say "didn't work, for whatever reason."
I did attempt to try using the APN's I found in a different thread, which is the same as the one's mentioned here, however as I said "didn't work, for whatever reason." and how is it narrow-minded if i'm going by what the person at the dedicated support centre for the T-stick said (even though they are usually wrong...)
Really, probably just a dead sim card :(

redmouse: Hello, I'm new here...
Got my T-Stick from ORB in Masterton, they had a large box of them so when they run out in Wellington you know where to come :) The only downer is that there is an incompatibility with my mac/Snow Leopard that causes it to eat bandwidth.

The Upper Hutt store also has a large supply

Nice work on editing your original post, and then the subsequent quoting of your original post - it helps if they match
While you did say "for whatever reason", you also said he was wrong - editing your original post and then using an excuse isn't smart. People can see
Anyway, I can assure you, along with many many other people here, that Telecom do not lock their devices.
Now, back on topic!
If you have to run heating in winter, you don’t own enough computers.
funnyfela: Hi guys,
Its just that 500mb is too much for me on mobile, and 240mb, or even the 120mb plan would be more suitable, and I get sick of draining my phones battery out using it as a modem.
Any ideas?

The 500MB is actually 10c/MB for the first 300MB and then the next 200 free, so if you only use 120MB it only cost you $12

Hello
I don't understand how in the above it will cost you only $12 - you've paid $29.95 to Telecom - it's not like they are charging you on account for usage.
I picked up one but there seem to be some questions about the prepaid plan given the typical obscure Telco speak (the whole 'the first 300MB are charged at 10C MB then the next 200MB are free') so to get it clear in my mind.
This is a $29.95 per month prepaid plan for 500MB data (if you use it for any period within a month when credit was added) with the ability to extend to 1GB for another $29.95 in the same month. Is that summary correct?
So with the new unused Tstick, between 1 Jan and 31 Jan you can use only 10MB or 499MB it still costs $29.95. If you add another 500MB for $29.95 on the 30th of Jan, you have until midnight on the 31st to use it before it expires and you have to add another 500MB on the 1st Feb to use it at all in Feb.
It would be a killer plan in my opinion if the data didn't expire each month and you topped up as required.
Rgds
NealR: This promotion has two components.
1. A free TStick, free, free free free free. A TStick is a TStick is a TStick. No SIM lock, any SIM will work in it. That's any XT SIM and any other mobile operators SIM.
2. A Prepaid promotion. Which for $29.95 gives you a SIM card, a phone number preloaded, and $29.95 worth of credit loaded against this phone number.
By default the phone number has the 500MByte for $29.95 data plan loaded onto it as compared to the usual default data plan of $1 per day for up to 10MByte
This means as long as you do not send a text, make a voice call etc you can get 500MB of data until the credit of $29.95 runs out.
If you send a text, make a voice call, etc the you will no longer have $29.95 of credit and therefore will not be able to get 500MB of data until you top up.
Hopefully this makes things very clear.
