Yes you can put any non locked SIM in there - void warranty bla bla warning of course. You then need to add an APN for the SIM card you use e.g. I've tested with a Vodafone SIM and this works fine using APN: vodafone. However, inserting another provider RBI SIM = fail due to SIM lock. I will test this with a Spark Rural Broadband SIM soon too.
Also router is locked to acquire 4G networks only, so if no 4G available you are out of luck.

The address checker has been updated (11/01). My current address is now a valid candidate (it wasn't yesterday) but the address I'm moving too still isn't available 😢

My current address is not serviced yet. Is there any way to find out if it's on the "soon" list? In other words, is there anyone at Skinny who can put me out of my misery? I'm at a rural (15 mins from CBD) Whangarei address.

I'd also like to know if it's possible to sign up with a non valid address.

Our new address is a new build and it shows up in the address checker but says it's not available - however the address literallly across the road from us is available according to the address checker.

So how accurate is the address checker Skinny?

Oh, so not fair. I live in a block of flats & it seems that houses all around my block can get it, yet none of flats in my block can. So I wonder like others how accurate the address checker really is.

Our Skinny Broadband address checker is based on address info that we source from NZPost which we then cross check with our eligibility map, so it's pretty accurate. However sometimes NZPost has certain addresses noted as ineligible for various reasons (eg: no letter box/can't receive mail/new build/property title doesn't exist yet etc) so this might be what's happened in your case. If your neighbour's address is coming up eligible and yours isn't, then please give us a call and we can look into it for you. Call us on 0800 475 4669 (0800 4 SKINNY). Each month our address checker gets updated with any changes from NZPost and any updates to the Spark 4G network.

Thinking about getting this broadband tomorrow. But I came across this forum here. Currently I'm with slingshot iTalk plus broadband. Thinking about moving to 2talk and skinny broadband. And I saw in this forum here that VoIP doesn't work on skinny broadband. Too bad. I need my VoIP line to work.

The other thing is online gaming on skinny broadband 4G, as I play street fighter online. Anybody tried online gaming on 4G Spark yet? The latency stability might not be as good as fixed line.

Too bad. I don't know what to do now. I just want cheap internet that works for me.

My thinking was not about whether or not would work more about the data that you go though but you could always just repurchase the month pack but then you need to think about the costs compared to a unlimited plan

I only get 3 bars signal at home on a small huawei mobile WiFi router. Don't know if this huawei b315 can receive signal better or not. My huawei mobile WiFi couldn't handle online gaming on 4G. Low latency yes, but no consistency. Anyone know if this skinny modem will be any better?

I only know about the basic VoIP sip configuration, anything more than that is beyond my knowledge. I have had a 2talk number for quite a while now. So how is 2talk set up on skinny? A normal set up or a special setup?

I only consume about 60 to 70 GB per month. So this skinny plan is the cheapest I can find, apart from 2degrees broadband VDSL which is 70 dollar, cheapest VDSL I can find.

I am getting one of these tomorrow, to test around here (Johnsonville, Wellington) and parents-in-law (Whitby, Porirua). Let's see how it goes.
