Wow! That's interesting... There are ads in all magazines I've been reading lately. Pulling the phone off is a biggie.

The phone has been removed from sale because of the switching off fault. They have given an eta of 3-4 weeks before a resolution is found and the phones are upgraded

i wanted to buy myself a 4th handset (i really am addicted)
but can't order them anymore :-(

how long has cdma been around? it took till 2005 to get a bluetooth handset. :-(
there seems to be a disportionate amount of geekzone users who own this phone. I wonder how big demand really was. Did folks buy it just for the bluetooth? that was certainly my reason.

I'm not sure wheather to post here maybe Telecom deserve to have the first crack at sussing things out before it becomes public knowledge, BUT, I'm also thinking I should maybe post so as to get input to complete my list of problems and solutions.

Dunno? I have a good friend that is very high up in the telecom mobile area so getting it into the system isn't a problem. I very rarely mention that as the connection should respectfully remain private.

Haven't forwaded it yet but should get my A into G as if, thats if they take it seriously we might get something done while the techs are here and the phone is out of circulation.

I have just heard this afternoon that the fault has been identified as a software issue by Nokia. A fix is being worked on now, and when finished, all the phones at MFR will be software-upgraded, as will existing stocks at CDW, and finally all phones in the market that are having trouble will be able to be returned to MFR for the fix.

This is good news for those having the problem.

I am not aware of whether the fix contains solutions for other problems that have been experienced or not.

Tally of problems mentioned in this thread.

Disenchanted sez:
It tends to turn itself off at random, but only if the keyguard is off.
sometimes it speed dials, sometimes it just repeats the digit

brad05 sez:
not receiving multimedia messages...
random switching off

aperfectcircle sez:
phone turning off when doing transfers using bluetooth
cut-out when using infra-red
Phone resetting itself
use the camera and nothing shows on screen
menu background has disappeared whilst typing a text message

taniwha sez:
crashes rather consistently during long BT headset phone calls
fastforward/rewind not working/ crashing media player
not ringing during incoming calls
Repetitive use of the fast forward, and the phone gets into a loop of constantly says "Media player Error".

reckless sez:
The radio doesn't go on speaker but the music player does?? and the manual says it should!!
You can't save to the drafts folder from the inbox
The little button that records sound segments keeps getting knocked or pressed by mistake (fills memory)
The playlist is only capable of listing 200 titles

Damo-K sez
FF/RW doesn't work on mine either

edge sez
I also have real trouble with the FF/RW .... Holding it down reproduced Taniwha's media player error ... Couldn't even get media player to stop!

Have i missed any?

I'd like to change my comment. The FF/RW works to a very limited extent where it will only move a few seconds of the song before changing track. But personally I don't use the feature.

same here - it move up to a maximum of 2 minutes into a song.
then skips to the next

if I attempt the FF a second time. then the media player gets into the "Media Player Error", and the only way to make it stop playing and beeping is to remove the battery.

But, the media player is not my reason for buying this phone - so i'm a happy camper.

Please take item 1 off my list concerning the radio as you need the headset in to act as an aerial the speaker then does work.

thanks
