In regards to the Apple Watch cellular version, I received an SMS from Spark on 29/11, stating that they will be selling it soon and a link to register interest. On clicking through, it will be available for purchase from 06/12, and they will have a wearables plan called One Number costing $12.99 per month.

There was a further link to register interest though this was about interest in buying the cellular version of the watch, rather than signing up for One Number.

I've got a cellular version I purchased in Aus, so I'm hoping they will support that.

About time the cellular watch version was supported, though I'm not impressed with the monthly charge. In Aus, Telstra offer this for $5 per month. Hopefully some competition for the Spark offering arrives soon in NZ and we see a price drop (yeah right).

Yep, it's great!  There's a thread about it here too

For those thinking of getting the Galaxy Fold, I can confirm that Spark's eSIM works fine and allows for dual SIM operation.

Curious if anyone who has a non listed device registered with Spark? I asked in store and they said there is a list they can and can't do but the pixel 3xl isn't on it. I'm not sure if he was just looking at the Samsung and iPhone list or if they had another one available internally.

Yeah, I got my Galaxy Fold working on Spark eSIM before it released in NZ. (Also AFAIK the fold still isn't on Spark's compatibility list).

However, I couldn't get it to work in store no matter what I tried. Went to two stores, talked to 3 salespeople and they tried 4 times. However, when I ordered a prepaid SIM online and asked for eSIM delivery, the eSIM they delivered to my email worked perfectly.

If you're moving a existing Spark service maybe try this then request a SIM swap onto the prepaid eSIM.

Weird, I'm trying to move from prepaid so not sure they'd move between Sims like that, but it would at least prove the concept of it does work. I may give live chat a try and see what they say, the guy in store want sure what to do with a phone not in sale in NZ.

Hi all,

I just wanted to inform you that Spark eSIM does work on Pixel 4. I got a Pixel 4 from Australia and I decided to test out the eSIM option. I am guessing it will work with Pixel 3/Pixel 3a as well

I went to the Spark Store and they said my phone was not supported. Instead , I followed pcman2000's suggestion. I went online , registered for a new SIM. Picked eSIM option . Scanned the QR code and voila it worked

For those with unsupported phones , you can try ordering online (or do a change SIM) and it may just work.

Then I went in to Spark store to transfer my number from 2 degrees. I can say that it does work very well.

Glad to hear it worked. I tried multiple times at Spark stores and it never worked, whereas online worked instantly. Interesting to hear that Spark still hasn't fixed it yet.

To the best of my knowledge , the reason why this happens because the way how the codes are generated in store vs online. Technically , it should be following GSMAA standard , but i am not sure the ones they use in store generates one specifically for a specific phone model (there might be a check)

For those who are going to get an unsupported phone , rest is assured that do it via online through SPARK . The generic QR Code that they generate seem to work and doesn't do the check (it's valid at this time of writing)

I am keen to get a dual SIM to rid myself of a second device. I currently 2 handsets - Vodafone for work and Skinny for personal.

Does anyone on here know whether this  phone is suitable for the job? I don't really know/understand what bands Skinny and Voda use.

I feel like I'm missing something, but I can't order a blank prepaid esim without preloading it with a plan or one on my account as a replacement sim card. I'm sure it will be something simple in missing but ordering a SIM it says you can't do this if you aren't a customer, and lining it to my account just spits out "Sorry - there's a small glitch with our systems right now. Please try again to proceed."

Nope, you gotta pay for a prepaid plan, then contact them and try to get them to swap onto the new eSIM. The website won't issue a new eSIM without a plan.

The A2223 model will work in NZ, but it does not have Band 28, which is the 700 MHz "rural" 4G band. So in remote areas you may lack coverage when other devices which have Band 28 onboard will work.

Not sure if it is a new thing, but just activated a prepaid service with eSIM yesterday, the whole process took about 2 minutes with a new number and I was up and running straight away, very impressed.
