Thanks Jeff. I did wonder that but my bible on Nokia devices here didn't suggest 900 WCDMA was an option. I do now see 3G Extended mentioned on the VF site for it.

exportgoldman: I'm struggling to keep my mouth shut about the new XT telly Ad's I saw today which are airing soon.

If those are the ads with the stuntwoman and the other guy (I can't remember his name), don't hold back. They were shown yesterday during the launch...

No they are not :( They were still with greenscreens in the background, but they look cool hehe.

What were the ad's they showed at the launch?

My question is: Is it possible to change the 'TWorld' link that all the phones in the photos seem to have attached to the right hand button thingy? From my experience with vodafone phones that have this 'feature' you always end up pressing it accidently and getting charged for data / draining your battery. Plus there are so many more useful actions you could assign it, like 'calender' or 'inbox' or pretty much any other function the phone has. Maybe thats why I still love my nokia 1100. If nokia brought out this phone, completely unchanged except for the addition of an 850mhz UMTS chip and sold it for $100, they'd make a killing.

Yes you can, as you can with most Vodafone handsets nowadays.

Quick Q - I'm too lazy to check out the specs for all the phones, so does anyone know offhand if any of the phones have qwerty keypads that can't be seen? Obviously the Treo, Blackberry and E71 do, plus I see the E75 has a slide out (thanks to freitasm for Flickr pics). I'm thinking of the touchscreens for eg... Thanks :-)

MASSIVE LINK HERE.

Massive link I know, but shows all handsets (currently) able to use 3G on both 850Mhz and 2100Mhz.

I didn't think there were gonna be that many!

Anyone consider the option that Telecom may post information on their plans without prices so that they can then have 100 odd market analysts monitor sites like this to gauge public reaction and perceived price points?

You never know this could be their secret way of asking how much YOU think "X" plan is worth and what features you would like to see added/removed. (clearly this isn't what vodafone did with iPhone)

Big companies work in mysterious ways.

How about a pricing system that reflects the true costs of making a call? Why should the per minute charge be lower the more you call? Obviously there's a tiny load placed on the network just by having a handset connected and switched on, but it's gotta be insignificant, especially when you consider that prepay users don't pay anything for the privelege. So why not have one fixed charge based on the cost of providing the most expensive type of call (ie. to vodafone).

Deals that offer free calling to users in the same business/family/my favourites/bestmate or whatever do not in any way reflect the actual costs involved, there's no difference between ringing your mate over any other on-net user.

I reckon they underestimate the potential to increase calling revenue, although I spend no more than the $10 for texting every month on my mobile, I actually end up spending $30-40 on calls, which I make through my landline, as since they're not business related I can just wait till I'm at home. I think I pay something like 25c a minute (capped) for national calls and 30 something for calls to mobiles. It's not much to match especially considering that I'd no longer need a landline and be willing to spend more. (Assuming affordable naked DSL). Of course there are probably mobile plans out there that cover my needs but I'm not willing to sign a 12/24month contract and my usage varies hugely from month to month.

As for the huge investment in XT, recover that by charging realistically for data, since that's the only real advantage over CDMA/old GSM
