Hi MF, most topics include replies, to replies, to replies...

Meaning very long, ugly posts.

It would be cool if only the most recent quote is visble in the forum view, with the previous quotes being collapsed, if you really want to read the quotes you could click expand...

Not sure if possible but would clean up large conversations quite a bit I feel...

Excellent idea. I generally try to do this manually by cutting out all the irrelevant bits of a quote (and the sub-quotes) - some threads get crazy with nested quotes. I really like the idea of seeing the most recent quote by default.

Is there also a way of making people quote properly!? Some of those who manually edit the quote make a complete hash of it almost everytime! I'm not getting at anybody here, I promise. I am just making a comment on something I regularly observe. When done correctly it is fine, but when done incorrectly you don't know who said what without going and re-reading the other posts again.

I agree they should tidy it up, and it's really not that hard to do. But forcing it automatically? How would that work, without restricting things too much for the rest of us? (Unless I'm one of the people your talking about, in which case please enlighten me :)
