Something on this topic... How did you post the URL?

  1. Copy and paste URL and editor automatically hyperlink once you pressed space after it?
  2. Copy and paster a hyperlink?
  3. Used the bbcode?
  4. Used the LINK button in the editor?

What browser?

It always does this for me. I fix it before I post though.

Always does it to me too.

What you do is make 2 lines then go back a line and put in your link. So that way its more inserting it and not carrying off the back of it.

Ah, I see. If you press ENTER just after a link instead of a space it will carry on to the next paragraph.

I'd say it's a TinyMCE bug. I don't see it because I actually either put a link as part of a sentence (space after it), hyperlink manually (if I want to use a word) or end my sentences with a period and ENTER (which will correctly hyperlink just the URL).

Most times I access gz on iPad 3 via Dolphin browser. Usually when wanting to put a link into a new thread or a reply, I can copy and paste a URL using long presses etc, and it works fine.

However since yesterday this does not seem to be working - can't paste a URL into the body of a reply. At first I thought there was something wrong with the browser - but testing shows it's probably not that.

Anything changed at gz? Problem at my end or gz's?

Edit: I have just tried pasting into other parts of gz - search box and the title line of a new post - and they work ok. Just not into the body.

I've just noticed that too. I tried to right click and paste something into an email I was sending on GZ. The paste option was there, but nothing happened. I had to Ctrl+V to insert the pic I wanted to send. Helllllllllllllllp!

We have updated TinyMCE earlier this week to a newer version.

However this works fine for me on non-mobile browsers and works fine on Android browser. Are you folks having problems on iDevices only? Have you updated your devices by any chance?

I don't have any i devices. The only computers I use for accessing GZ are a laptop at home using Chrome browser and a thin client at work using some version of Internet Explorer.

I just tried it again and right click, Paste doesn't work in the reply, but Ctrl+V does.

Hmmm. I've never used right-click, always used CTRL-V. Probably why I didn't notice anything different.

My understanding is that on touch-screen devices a long press is equivalent to a right mouse-click (?). I just tried copying and pasting a URL into the body of a thread reply on my HTC One M7 using long presses and it worked fine (Dolphin browser). Trying the same thing on iPad with iOS 7.1.2 does not work (Dolphin again). I did update iOS recently when 7.1.2 came out but I think I have been able to copy and paste URLs since then. I noticed it had stopped working on GZ a couple of days ago. As mentioned, pasting into anything on GZ other than a thread reply seems to be OK.

To reiterate, there appear to be a few bugs with this TinyMCE thing.

One that I've posted about in a thread before is unless there is at least one character present in the Compose Reply box, when you Right-click there is no Paste menu option. The Quick reply box doesn't have this quirk. See: Copy but no paste

Another one is there is a Paste option on the Right click menu, but nothing happens when you click it under certain circumstances.

For example, if I copy an image URL from my GZ image gallery "images.geekzone.co.nz/imagessubs/blog25ec4bf2322e7d2014c519580a3b88bc.jpg" (I removed the IMG tags so it would just display the text that I'm trying to copy), Right click and select Paste, nothing is inserted.

If I copy some text from the image gallery page, it will paste, but if I copy it from one of the text boxes immediately below the "Here is the BBCode to copy and paste into your forum post to insert the image:" it won't paste.

The common work-around in both these cases is to use Ctrl+V to paste your text.

... except that this is not an option if using a touch-screen device (or an iPad at least).

Mauricio - please is there any way this issue can be addressed/rectified? It's quite limiting not being able to paste into GZ, esp when it was possible before.
