This yellow 'warning' has been appearing in Firefox, only on the Geekzone site. I'm not too sure whether it is actually a Firefox warning, though.

When it shows up, it clears part of the page, so I can't see posts etc, with a big white box which you can scroll past.

I've gone back to Firefox lately are finally giving up on Edge -- with Microsoft I'm kind of like an obsessive ex who keeps coming back for more abuse:) If I remember, I'll fire up Chrome to view Geekzone, but it's a nuisance.

Not too sure if this is actually Firefox warning me, Geekzone trying to get me to subscribe, or... something else.

No, it's not "Geekzone trying to get me to subscribe".

More importantly, what add-ons do you have installed on your browser? I don't see this behaviour around here.

I'm using Firefox and I do not get the same problem.

But when I view a Geekzone page, Adblock Plus shows that it is blocking 8 different sites (and 11 if I'm not logged in).

My guess is that you are finding one of them being slow to respond...

Oops, the 'subscription' poke was meant to be a joke, 'appropriate humour' is an issue with ASD...:)

I only have a translator, ad blocker and password manager in Firefox, and the ad blocker is disabled here. (Certainly not because of any pressure by Geekzone to get me to subscribe; dammit, can't stop myself:)

I thought maybe it was Geekzone's ad blocker check script which was getting confused -- does he/doesn't he have a blocker active, aaargh! -- but completely removing my ad blocker doesn't make any difference.

After some more experiments, it seems to be triggered by either the 'live' page, or the home page with the 'live' column. When the bar shows up, it completely disables every Geekzone open tab. So whatever triggers the 'live' update could be causing the problem.

EDIT: oops, spoke too soon, just sitting with one tab showing my post and it stopped working with the bar...

I decided to take my life in my hands and press the buttons. I pressed 'stop it' and a new ad? for Amazon Prime appeared, the bar disappeared, and I regained control.

Ok, here's my 'current' view of this post with the problem showing...

Pressing 'stop it' gives me this:

You can see the problem ad now.

I'd say that the Amazon servers might be having some temporary hiccups and holding that bit until timeout. It may be your ISP routes - I am not seeing this problem here.

Cheers.

At least I've figured it isn't something nasty out to get me, so I'm happy.

By the way, this has been going on now for weeks.
