Today we have made it mandatory for users to accept our Forum Usage Guidelines (FUG) before posting in our forums.

When you first post a new topic or reply you will be automatically redirected to a page where you will be asked to read and accept our FUG.

Accordingly, quick reply boxes won't be shown until you read and accept our FUG.

Damn, typed a long post on another post and hit post reply and it cleared it and went back to the main forum listing. Must have been at the sametime you made the change :-)

Ah well too tired to tpe it again :-)

I've got a problem with the FUG, specifically the statement that posts will be removed and the user may be banned if "the post links to copyrighted material not property of the author".

As far as I'm aware, there's no precedent that says linking to copyrighted material is illegal under NZ law. And that's before we start on fair use for purposes of review, discussion, etc.

Plenty of people link to content that's copyrighted and isn't theirs. For example, in my most recent post I've linked to a relevant article on Stuff.co.nz. The material to which I linked is copyrighted by Fairfax and the FG says the post WILL be removed, and I face being banned for that.
