I have noticed a couple of threads going up lately containing links for voting for people & the thread got locked.

Why are these left locked and not just deleted? Locking them does not stop the link from being there or am I missing something?

Asking for votes is not really against the FUG and the OP has been on Geekzone for a while. And he asked before posting.

If it was someone new around here, who just joined to ask for votes then the post would have been deleted.
