With the ocean of PayPal spam I'm filtering, which I can currently happily ignore because I have nothing to do with them, I don't want to subscribe to this service, is there another way of subscribing?

ps. it's not that I think PayPal is insecure, I just don't want to have to second guess myself.

Yeah I would say the BDFL will allow you to disposit funds into his account and make you a subscriber, things might just take a bit longer to process that's all.

Paypal is quite secure - I personally have an account since it was created as an app for Palm OS, before it was what it is today... That's going about a few years now, I tell you.

You don't have to guess. Paypal does not send emails out period. They send emails out as replies to your actions. You create a subscription, you will get a notification. You add a new credit card or bank account you get a notification.

They never send emails asking for you to login. So there's no second guessing here. If there's an email and you didn't do anything, it's not a real one.

As for how to subscribe, you have to pay for a full year subscription via bank deposit and once confirmed I manually change your account.

Remember, the subscriptions renew automatically. If you don't want it to renew in twelve months you can login to Paypal now and cancel it.

Cancelling a subscription will just do that: cancel the renewal. The subscription stays valid until its last day.

We get the first payment and will honour the (paid) subscription until its end.

I am just saying that if you don't want the automatic renewal you can easily go to Paypal and cancel the subscription there. The existing (paid) subscription is still valid until the end.
