Just been reading several posts in the Orcon/Kordia forum, I notice several of them show as having been edited, including one of my own. Now I can see no change in my post from what I originally posted, so why all these edits?

Just curious, big yellow highlighted comment of this post has been edited does set the mind thinking :)

[Moderator edit (MF): for example, this post was edited to change a typo in the subject. We do like to have nice subjects because it makes a lot of a difference when search is needed]

A mod may have made a change to your post such as change it to a more suitable title, remove offensive language etc.

If the edits said who they were edited by, date of the edit, and not blaringly yellow, it'd be nice. Smile

Actually since it allows you to see the original and the edit of your own post i compared them and there was not one change made by the editor (Mod).

In your specific case, only the subject was changed, to something more meaningful. I should have noted that in the change.

The post can only be edited by the owner (within 15 minutes of being posted) or by a moderator. Usually we put a message so people can see why we edited it, owners don't have to do it.

The idea of pointing out the post was edited is because we've seen many cases where people change their posts in such a way that completely distort their original comments.

The time limit was introduced because some people were posting bad things about a company, and when it was proven these people were actually on the receiving end of a court action, they rushed to change their posts. We no longer allow this.

Good point makes me think that I should have marked the addition I added to a couple of posts I made recently as being the edit so that it became a transparent process and showed I was not redacting an earlier statement. Mental note to self to do so in future.

You should put in a "?" mark with some kind of popup, cos this question will be asked again and again.

For the record, we as mods only edit posts if they are against the FUG or they need a more descriptive title.

The nice thing is most people here do behave themselves, we only have to step in occasionally to keep people on track
