I’m enjoying my new Android tablet, but my user satisfaction at geekzone.co.nz has diminished greatly, since owning this tablet.

Admittedly I do not subscribe to adverting free content on Geekzone. The advertisements have never annoyed me. Sometimes they are of interest.

What is annoying me is that on most the forum pages where you need to scroll up and down to read the content, results in me visiting amazon.com far too many times. The figure movement to scroll up and down also appear to be a link to the Kindle Book site.

The screen area I touch is white space and in my book should just only be that - Not a link to a site that is advertising in the page header.

Can anyone confirm they are experiencing the same issue?

I had a similar issue on my HTC Sensation, my tablet also had issues, but not the same as yours. I'm using Firefox and Opera on my tablet now and no problems. I see that Dolphin have just released a tablet version of their highly regarded browser today also, might be worth a whirl.

We understand too well about UX and web speed. So much so that if you visit Geekzone from a smartphone we will automatically redirect you to our mobile version, and you have the option to switch to the full version.

Even when switching to the full version on a smartphone we will not serve any ads and prevent scripts (such as recommendations, Facebook and Twitter) from loading.

We also understand the mobile version is not optimized to the larger screens on a tablet, so we decided to server the full version instead to iPad and Android tablets. The problem is that we don't recognise those as mobile devices yet because the large number of variables involved. So they continue to be served with the full Geekzone site, including ads.

My tablet is the eee transformer, with Honeycomb 3.1
I can advise that I have a setting on my tablet, where I can change the user agent string.
I tested this after your reply and I can confirm what you say, that if I change this setting to Mobile phone, then the advertisements disappear and the issue I am reporting also disappears.
However I prefer to set the user agent string to Desktop.
Murray, points out that I have other browser choices and I will check this out, but in the back of my mind I am still not clear why touching the white space, set?s off the link?
Is this a hardware or software issue?

It must be a browser rendering problem.

I use Dolphin (admittedly just on a phone) and you can change the user agent string on a site-by-site basis, IIRC...

Would love to see the new tab version.

Most sites give me mobile view except GZ, because I told it I wanted the full site.

I have the same issue on my transformer with the stock browser which is generally awesome, particularly with the swipe from the side gestures turned on. It only seems to occur when the Enable Plugins is set to "on demand" in the settings. This means it only loads the flash if I click on it.

I find that often I will try and click on a page for a forums thread on the right hand side and if I don't exactly hit it with my finger it will load the Amazon kindle page. It does bug me a small amount.

I set the flash to on demand a while ago while still running Flash 10.2 as it was crashing on some sites (not geekzone). 10.3 has sorted the crashing out. GZ seems to be the only site that causes the issue and it is something to do with the kindle header advert.

I have never been taken to any other site other than the kindle link.

checking in here with my acer a500. i also have the issue where if i touch anywhere on the right half of the screen i end up at the kindle link, it's like the link 'bleeds' across the rest of the screen.

if i touch a link it works ok.

hey, sorry for the bump but thought I'd post to say I'm having the same problem where touching the right side of the screen takes me to amazon. it doesn't seem to be limited to the white space though, quite often it happens while tapping next or a page number. Zooming in seems to help, but this could be my imagination ofcourse.

Asus transformer, 3.2, dolphin browser, firefox mobile and default browser, regardless of browser string
