DALnet is suffering from all sorts of woes at the moment. A rather large netsplit has left only one server standing on the right side of it so nickserv and chanserv are down with no end in sight.

As we need somewhere to chat I have created #geekzone on irc.zirc.net. Please come and join us. Depending on the thoughts of the powers that be and whether DALnet recovers, this probably wont be a permanent move.

Mixed feelings about any potential move. I was away for most of it, but from what I understand there were rolling netsplits and server outages over a 12 hour period.
Against:
  • We've already got a well established room on Dalnet.

  • Moving around generally causes pains. Some people stick to one network.

  • Pros:
  • With luck this IRC network is not targetted as often as Dalnet is.

  • Host masking (people won't know your direct IP)<

  • Better services

  • IRCd is set up to allow Halfops

  • We have a 56.9% 'majority'* vote.

  • *Based off number of lines spammed in #geekzone on stats.
