I'm sad and I realise it, my wife tell me, my daughter tells me but I just have to process mersennes primes (a search for large prime numbers). My wife bought an new laptop with an intel quad core i7 processor for her work - well, I have to test that it by running by pushing it 24hr a day on prime number searches. Boy does it run hot. She hasn't even used it yet - I tell her that is because it need more testing. Our home computer has been running non stop for over a year... you guessed it more primes, dont tell my boss but my work laptop... well you did guess ... more primes searches. In all I have about 6 computers, work, home and my wife's work all running my primes. The one that does most of the work is my home desktop. I have upgraded most of my it trying to squeeze every drop out of the of CPU time for checking primes the weakness is my current processor. I know I could do more primes with an i5 processor in it. Damn right I could, it is my desktops failing. With an i5 processor I could really ramp up my destop searchses and oh I could also let my wife use her laptop after all if I had an i5 processor maybe I wouldn't need to use her work machine. For those thinking it,
Intel Core i5 processor processor... more primes checked. I built an i5-750 based system for a friend and was so sad to let it go. I am still rocking the socket 939, dual core Opteron all the way to oblivion. Unless I win one of these CPUs. In which case all I need is to add a motherboard & RAM, I'm good for the rest. The three most CPU intensive apps I run are games, Folding@Home and video transcoding (either my own home videos or ripping my DVDs to my file server). An updated rig based on the i5-750 is going to benefit me greatly. I will beg if required.
Well after taking 24 hours to encode a 3 hour full hd camcorder recording to 100% quality 2 pass dvd-video... AM2 6000 system with 4GB RAM
I am really keen for a new system built around these rocking new CPUs being given away!

new cpu = faster encode!

My Media Centre PC is well overdue for a makeover. Sure I'd need to purchase a new motherboard and memory, but a Core i5 is just enough to get the wheels in motion.

if i won an intel processor i would solemly swear never again to lash out in spastication (my apple laptop lies in ruins)
never again would i leap before i looked, kick it in my sleep or forget to turn it off when i was done. i'm sorry little laptop but somebody always gets hurt when hard lessons get learnt.
I would like an i5 as I would like to upgrade my equipment to handle the latest OS, Apps and Games. My old system is +5yrs old and it just can't handle the latest and grestest things out there(seriously frustrating my 12 and 10yr old sons)
My motivations for wanting a new i5 system are completely unselfish - I want to provide a system to family as they presently share one computer amongst six people. I will do this by providing them with my existing system, which is a decent Core2-based system, and using the new i5 as my main desktop, and occasional test box when my now antique dual Xeon will not do the job (lack of 64 bit and virtualisation support).
This will then allow me to communicate more regularly with people I love. Okay, so if I'm being honest, I guess my motivation is almost entirely selfish :)
I need more computer processing power to build more additional pylons. Additional pylons are something you must construct. For you must always construct additional pylons. But be sure that you have enough minerals. You cannot construct additional pylons without enough minerals. Additional pylons is also something that bitches dont known about, more additional pylons require more additional computer power.
Would love one of these to build my new gaming machine. It's a pain sharing one machine between 4 kids and myself. This would give me the opportunity to fix that problem once and for all. :).
Try again! WOW! And here I have been limping along on my BP6 with dual 400MHz processors, 768MB (max allowed) and the HPT366 interface(flakey) for the hard drive. It died last month and I am blisteringly fast today with a borrowed HP D530 CMT at 3GHz. It is heaven, but borrowed. So an Intel Core i5 processor would be instantly snapped up into a dream machine engineered to last me a virtual lifetime. It would make a change from rural dialup to satellite broadband worthwhile!
If i win this i5 processor then i plan to use it for multitasking like hell and to use it to record live 2d fighting games so my friends cant lie lie when i beat them...I also plan to use this processor to dump my intel celeron processor based pc in trash ...Thank you for the contest
