freitasm: There's been no change in the way the login works. If you don't have auto login set when you login for the first time then it may log out during that time, but not because of the change.

Maybe, but it never did it before today. I could stay logged in all day (requesting updates and clogging up your servers) and it would stay logged in. Now, after 5 minutes, the updates are blank, and when I refresh the page, I am logged out.

you'll be logged out because there is no AJAX call keeping your session alive on the server. so since your browser isn't talking to the server every minute, your session dies on the server and when you refresh the page the server creates a new session with you logged out.

As I said, if you don't have auto-login the session should end in 20 minutes. If the refresh happens then the session won't die. The alternative is to have auto-login box checked when you login and that will keep it alive all the time, regardless of timeout.

If its only people with multiple tabs open, could you have it just load in the tab that last had focus, and all others get ignored till they get focus and then take over the refreshing?

I have Geekzone Live open pretty much all day in a separate window so noticed it immediately. That yellow banner is hard to miss :o

It would be nice if there was an option to enable/disable the out of focus refresh...

A very annoying side effect is that the timeout ends up causing all your read flags to be automatically reset... making read flag usefulness pretty much non-existant.

Not a real biggie but it's slightly annoying, I used to have this open at work (and the computer is running IE7 ugh) - which means it slightly broke the auto-update feature.

Whilst I understand the need for this it is slightly annoying from the below perspective

I have dual monitors at work so generally I'm focused on the primary screen, the secondary screen usually contains Chrome and other stuff.

Sometimes I'll spot a topic, I might not have seen during my initial glance, click on it to read it however now when I move the mouse and it focuses on the Geekzone the topic disappears

Albeit trivial, if the topic isn't obvious I've no idea which sub forum it's in
