Though Google wouldn't know if you're showing the cookie message or not. I'm sure they have more important things to worry about than cookie messages for non-EU sites.

Does it strike anyone else as a really stupid law?

 

It causes a whole lot of fuss around the world over...cookies, which are one of the most benign quirks of the internet.

It follows from stupid companies that made millions of "cleaning your PC of spyware" when they were really only deleting text files. Scare tactics.

adblock Prebake subscription.

Blocks most cookie banners on the web.

Also if you clear cookies the message will show again. It my also appear if you are using from a VPN or work as some companies use overseas exit points - HP and Microsoft do.
