Thanks @freitasm that's very kind. I was thinking I should subscribe again anyway, I'm using Geekzone a bit more now so I've enabled ads again in my account and will subscribe when the temporary subscription ends.

If you start having other people experience the same problem I'm happy to help you diagnose the issue.

meesham:

Scrap what I said about Firefox, it's started doing it in that browser too.

+1 here. Firefox, GZ whitelisted in ABP, but still shows the "Please consider whitelisting Geekzone" and has quick reply disabled.

And you don't have Ghostery, and are seeking the ads?

No Ghostery. I do have NoScript though, but I've whitelisted every script on GZ including tinymce, georiot and google-analytics - hasn't helped.

FWIW mine still gets blocked on my iPhone (safari) with the AB+ app whitelisting geekzone, but works fine on the laptop Chrome with AB+ whitelisting the site...

(and surely AB+ uses the same list for both?)

Several times over the last few days I've seen the orange Adblock reminder bar across the top and missing quick reply box. Safari on iOS 10 without any Adblock installed at all. Ads are showing.

Did you see this in different networks, always the same?

Fairly sure on Vodafone mobile each time - don't think it was on wifi, but will pay more attention next time!

Think I found the answer:

that would suggest if you're not using the ghastly plugin or have it otherwise disabled then the site will think you're using an adblocker (which in my case I am, but the screen shot shows I've allowed GZ as per the green thumbs up and the advert displaying in the background)

Yeah explains why I've seen the issue on my phone too.

Yep, that'll be it for me too, I block Flash by default.

I am told Flash has no influence on detection rate.

Well when I saw the lack of quick reply i refreshed the page and navigated elsewhere thinking I hadn't logged in or something. It wasn't until I saw the plugin warning and enabled flash that the quick reply came up however the act of enabling does initiate a page redraw so may have loaded some else's advert that doesn't have this problem, perhaps.
