Kyanar:

Based on my previous experience with CAPTCHAs, and the now lack of them, it appears Cloudflare doesn't like the MetaMask extension.

I wouldn't trust it either. Interfering with webpages I am visiting? No thanks.

"The extension injects the Ethereum web3 API into every website's javascript context, so that dapps can read from the blockchain."

"Because it adds functionality to the normal browser context, MetaMask requires the permission to read and write to any webpage."

It is open source and auditable.

I'm seeing these pretty often now. On my phone maybe twice per day, at at least once or twice on different PC's

It wouldn't be twice or more unless you are using multiple browsers and looking at the last 24 hours your traffic was only challenged once. I have posted a very long explanation in the Moderators' sub-forum.

I am also getting more of them again on a regular basis. I just had to go through the whole thing twice, each time with multiple challenges. It gets tiresome. Something seems to have changed.

A captcha is a pass for a week. If you are getting more than one you are likely clearing cookies, or using a different browser.

I've noticed that when I get a captcha, it's usually after I've left a long (minutes to hours) delay before hitting the "Post Quick Reply" button.

No to both on this last round.

Snap.

(do use multi connections throughout day, but more often triggered once I go home)

And about 2/10 chance of it actually passing through once verified to the right URL vs getting an err conn timeout page. Sometimes copying the reply to clip. Closing browser, going straight back and pasting works. Other times if it has any inkling of a URL (in prev reply from another user for instance) it'll trigger this timeout/not verifying back to post until removed

I'm not logged in on my phone or desktop PC at work - so it was those that I saw it.

Just had another one now on my laptop which is logged in, and it's probably been 24 hours since I last had one which I'm pretty sure was on this same machine and browser.

These damned captchas are really getting out of hand. I just had to go through four(!) challenges to leave a message on a local shop site, and then I immediately get hit with one again here! The four have nothing to do with Geekzone, of course, but the cumulative effect is really annoying. Is there no better way to do this? I don't often clear cookies but I do use different browsers for different reasons. If the captchas can't deal with something like that, is there no better way to maintain site security?

Got hit by one to even read a forum post this morning,

Yes, I can see you used a couple of different browsers, one of them with a low score - VPN, proxy, work, unusual add-ons?

On the other hand I see those browsers all getting better scores the more you use them so less likely to get hit.

I have dialed down a notch on the scoring.
