Hello clean install of ie8 and geekzone crashs the browser, no toolbars etc.

Internet protected mode off.

popup blocker off

This is on vista 32

geekzone on win 7 and ie 8 runs fine no issues and same as firefox.

Only error I got with ie 8 was message saying scripts cuasing ie to run slow then ie8 just freeses up.

Maurico this maybe all something to do with all your google adds and other script adds running and to do with ie8 and privacy settings will need to get playing with it but I dont want to turn off all the ie8 security features.

So yes there is a confirmed fault with geekzone not the broser, toolbars or users.

Found the problem, fixed. Actually posting this reply from IE8 RTW on Windows XP.

Found the script causing the problem and removed it. Reported to the company so they can fix it.

NzKaizer: I dont know how it works, its a "pro" feuture of my antivirus package and it claims to encrypt what I type so that keyloggers cannot steal bank information etc etc or so it says on the box.

which antivirus package are you running?

an antivirus, antispywre etc program can look for 'malicious' programs, but if you're typing in english and a keylogger is listening then encryption isnt really going to stop them.  It would also prevent your bank site from working too as it wouldnt be able to decrypt the encrypted information.

Bank sites use SSL which encrypts the data you enter while it is in transit from your browser to the banks web server.  Unfortunately the transit of text from the keyboard to the browser is in 'plain text'.  While it would be technically possible to encrypt the data between a keyboard and browser, it probably wouldnt be a generally workable solution and would require a plugin in the browser to 'decrypt' the data, rather than encrypt it.

from the product of the trend micro website "

Keystroke Encryption
Strong encryption prevents keystroke monitoring programs from spying on your passwords, account numbers, and other personal information."

they explain how its done here, and it makes sense - sort of.  If you're antivirus program let a keylogger on to your machine in the first place, then there is no reason why it wouldnt have let a keylogger that interacts directly with the hardware on to your machine thus rendering this protection useless.

if you're really worried about security - do as freitasm and nate suggest - run a severly locked down user inside a controlled environment - perhaps a virtual machine running on top of your OS :-)  FOr added security use the onscreen keyboard inside when you are typing in passwords instead of the keyboard.
