michaelmurfy: If you don't like animated GIF's
Press ESC
It pauses them :)

You also do know, pressing ESC while the page is loading will stop the page loading... right? So that technique is counter-productive.

muppet: +1 unanimated gifs.
We already have to put up with crazy signatures. It'll get to the point where most of the content of the page is extra unnecessary stuff and finding the meat will be impossible.

(old, grumpy, get off my lawn etc)

I won't be allowing animated gif on avatars... You know subscribers can hide signatures too, right?

jaymz: I have mentioned this in the subscription - Yes? No? topic.

Is this possible to have on Geekzone?  If not, why?  Maybe it is something that subscribers could have enabled?

I like GOOD animated GIFs.

Bad one's suck.

Maybe a size limit...and don't allow them in sigs.

I hate the forums where the sig is three times the size of the actual post.....I like things to be high on signal, low on noise.

Well since you are a subscriber, you can block the signatures :)

I'll look into that right now. I've been noticing how much screen space they take up - especially when browsing the full site on my phone (so I can see forum stats, last poster, etc..)

I have signatures turned off, and the side bar.  Makes for an uncluttered experience :)
