freitasm: I have released an updated version of this script that now allows multiple answers to a single discussion.

Nice!

Now can I please be trusted or would someone who is trusted also flag this answer because I'm right... this is a nice feature!

I have made a small change and we are now showing a checkmark next to discussions with replies set as answers:

Clicking on the checkmark shows the filtered answer(s) only.

Just a thought... Should we send out an email to the OP when a discussion has a certain number of replies to ask if the question was answered and requesting the OP to set the answer flag?

That would be extremely helpful, as often you can't tell which post solved the issue.

Then I guess it is up to the trusted folks / moderators to ensure that the solution picked was actually correct (in case the OP didn't really know, but picked something to satisfy the email above)

Bear in mind that some threads, especially in the Off Topic forum, are just discussion and not intended to have answers. I could also see this being hectic in the huge "Device X Owners" threads.

Sure. But as said before, asking users to mark their own topic as a question is a moot point. People just won't do it...

Just following up on the reset aspect from this thread.

I agree with the sentiment expressed by the OP in that thread, and good on the OP for providing that expertise.

But, there may be occasions where these items may benefit from further discussion to clarify an issue. I do agree sometimes a mod reset will be appropriate, but in other cases things may not be as cut and dried as they first appear.

Also - is there a notification for an answer reset? It seems needed in the future if answers are to be technically meaningful in a discussion context.

What kind of notifications are we talking here? SET/RESET sent to everyone in the thread, or just the OP or to anyone who did a SET/RESET before in the topic plus the OP?

All thread participants/watchers. If an answer is set or changed - that is of interest to everyone as much as any reply. If an answer is inadequate a participant/watcher may choose to respond on that basis.

I have updated this feature now, allowing users with more than 200 posts to set/reset answers as well as the OP, Trusted users and moderators.

Why do I have red set answer buttons?

I'm not trusted, so I assume I can't set answers on anything that's not my thread. If you know to send a red button why not just send no button?

Re Notifications - I like the idea of sending out a notification to watchers/OP when a thread is marked as having an answer.

It would also be helpful to have a 'watch for answer' button as well. So I don't have to get notifications of discussion on a topic but just be notified when someone considers the original question to have been answered.

How about a 'go to top' link in the 'navigation' area on the RHS when you're on the last page? A 'go to bottom' link would also be helpful at the top of the page in the same place. I understand that it will say 'next' when you're not on the last page, but I often use the 'new posts' page and then just choose the last page.

Yes, sorry.  :)

Very very cool feature as well.  I think that's a fantastic idea.
