afe66: Just general curiosity. :-).
IT background, skills areas etc.
I don't mind sharing my tech background.
Worked in radio for 10 years (starting in 1986) and became a sound engineer during my time working in radio. Worked as the CTO for what was then the 3rd largest commercial radio station in Norway. During my last few years in radio the internet happened and I was online in 1993 with my first web page.
Started working as a web developer in 1995 and created some of the first online stores in Norway durning that time. Also started doing web hosting on a Silicon Graphics machine for various clients, and then moved on to other Linux servers and had sysadmining those machines as part of my work.
Have worked for a big international conglomerate, was hired as their first "internet consultant". Worked with Microsoft technologies and SGML tools that converted well formatted Word documents to web pages around the start of 2000. Typical clients were state and some of the biggest Norwegian companies.
Then I quit "the Dilbert world" and worked for a small web agency that did fun things with Flash for campaign sites for the likes of Cadbury (not actually Cadbury, but a Norwegian equivalent). My job was mostly integrating Flash with backend systems.
Small web agency went bankrupt around 6 months after 9/11 happened. Did some consultancy work on my own for Norways National Institute of Health, creating their intranet with EZ Publish all on my own.
In 2002 I started my own company together with a friend. We had four empty hands and a CMS I had helped develop in the small web agency. The company sells safety products and when we sold it in 2013 it had a revenue of about $3.5 million NZD (converted from NOK). We also started another company that does import and distribution of safety products where I am still involved.
In 2011 I started my own company that does web development on top of WordPress, as well as hosting and maintenance of WordPress sites. (I have used WordPress since 2006 for my own blogs). Thats what I spend most of my time on these days. I work with Norwegian clients, so have to be available from 6pm to 2am most work days (8pm to 4am during NZ summer).
Current skills would be LAMP development (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). Some JavaScript, good knowledge of CSS and HTML.
As far as certifications, I have a Google Partner Adwords certification, and thats about it. :D
