I'm getting hit with them more often this week too......  primarily accessing from home (static) and work (static).  Only using Chrome on both systems, cookies not touched in a few weeks.

My work internet is aggressively locked down including out of date browsers and locked down settings so triggers Captcha's on many websites including Geekzone - where login's time out after about 5 minutes (or before you finish writing a reply #$@!#$). I can't even view the new captcha's to solve them so no more talking on Geekzone while on the clock for me (not Geek zones issue I realise).

P.S. this post is not from my work computer if anyone is looking at my stats.

You have the option of keeping the browser logged on to Geekzone. And the login timeout is 20 minutes.

Still getting Captchas with annoying frequency. Is this just because I use different computers around the house to access Geekzone? They are all permanently logged on.

Your IP address had four challenges on the 22 April and then nothing until one challenge today 25 April just before your post - not sure this is "with annoying frequency" and I will explain why.

The four challenges on the 22 April were all grouped together around the same time so I suppose it was multiple tabs being open at the same time. If one of the challenges was answered the other three wouldn't appear but the timing was unfortunate.

Since you reported that I had tweaked the levels and looking at the average score for your connection you shouldn't see any other challenge initiated from my side of the things - that's why no challenges on the 22nd until this morning.

The challenge this morning at 11:19am was not initiated by my server but a Cloudflare automatic challenge. It appears that the specific browser has something that triggered a security feature.

I suggest you check that this browser is completely up-to-date, and that any browser extensions are up-to-date and not compromised.

Thanks I will do that. The browser I mainly use is Comodo, which is very similar to Chrome but has a few tweaks I prefer. It says it is up to date.

I guess the reason I think these challenges are happening a lot is for a long time I didn't used to get any, and now they seem to be occurring on a regular basis. It wouldn't be so bad if I could just click something once and be done with it (which is certainly technically feasible) but I keep getting repeated challenges and have to keep looking for all the damned boats two or three times and then it does get a little annoying.

I have changed the challenge a couple of days ago to be automatic - no picture selection.

For what it's worth.

In the end it took an incognito within this same chrome browser for me to successfully post a reply. After about 8 attempts. Version 90.0.4430.85 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Soon as it goes 'redirecting' after completing, it's like it doesn't really try before it 403s with a really long URL.  UblockO disabled for here. None of this DNS or VPN masking addons.

It seems to be ramping up again. Captcha has been a semi regular thing again.

@oblivian it was something to do with your current IP address. I have sent a PM.

@batman I couldn't see any captcha for your current IP address in the last 72 hours.

@Handle9 I can see only one captcha event for your current IP - it's not "ramping up" but if you use more than one IP let me know.

@jonb I couldn't see any captcha for your current IP address in the last 72 hours.

There are two types of captcha in use: the automatic one (solved by your computer) is shown on instruction from the Geekzone server and based on a series of our own calculations. The ones you folks saw is posted by Cloudflare automatically. I've sent a PM to @oblivian and @Handle9.
