dclegg:
freitasm: I have a suspicion what could be causing the ads showing in the wrong place when using Internet Explorer and I am looking at it.

Its not just IE. I use Chrome and Safari on Mac OSX (mostly the former), and I've seen it there. Can't be more specific right now, I'm afraid, but I'll provide screenshots and confirm the browser its occurring in the next time I see it.

Strange, because I visit Geekzone with ads all the time (I don't filter because I do want to see what's going on) and haven't seen this problem lately. And I visit it a lot ;)

Is this normal ad placement? It's not the same as the other truncations I've seen (no loss of text or controls), but it still doesn't look quite right to me (Chrome 8.0.552.224 on OSX)

This is normal. The borders around the quote paragraph extend all the way within the DIV. The ad is insive of that. That's not the problem people are seeing - people are seeing leaderboard ads in that space, which should actually be above the post, as in previous screenshots.

Cool. Like I said, thats not as bad as the problem I've seen in the past either. I must admit, I've not paid attention to see whether I have a leaderboard ad in a post. What I see is similar to other symptoms described in this thread, where text and controls are truncated, which is why I believe it to be the same problem. I'll confirm the next time I see it.

ha! as soon as I posted the above the problem has gone away.
Maybe someone is working on the site right now?

No, nothing has changed and no one is working on the site - at least until next year!

I've found the reason why on Internet Explorer those ads were showing in the wrong position, and this should now be corrected.

Yes, noticed this, earlier. Something to do with IE not respecting the DIV tags.

But I did find another problem, which was solved and no one ever noticed...
