What about if it's a mod's post you are reporting? (Not thinking of anyone in particular, just a hypothetical)

DarthKermit: This place is pretty darned civil. The Trademe messageboards are a lot worse. And look at all the trolls who post on YouTube.

freitasm: I looked at it. Easy to implement, hard to test and get it right.
1eStar: The implementation that would benefit me would be as follows:
Under options at the side bar would be "hide this user"
Of course if anyone bothers to reply to the antagonist it will be viewable.
If one can not make head nor tail of thread then a "show hidden posts" could be available at head of thread. A bit like the " show answers only" button.
Only some lures that a troll throws out will provoke a bite from some people. I'd like to be able to filter out the users that antagonise me in a non confrontational manner.
I'm not interested in downvoting anyone.

That's how Usenet reader killfiles were implemented and they didn't really work for a whole bunch of reasons. What does work is the way Facebook does it. If I block you then I can't see your posts and you can't see mine.
1eStar: Yeah but on facebook you can unfollow/hide posts from a user and they have no idea, they still see your posts.

That's irrelevant.

That's irrelevant. If it's a killfile and you killfile me, you'll still see everyone who replies to me and quotes me, i.e. you'll read my post anyway. A good Usenet newsreader would go a step further and add some kind of regex engine and allow you to hide posts that have too much content from someone you've killed. That's ok when it's on a client, but if M. were to try and implement something similar there's going to be a lot of CPU cycles sucked up for reasons like Demeter thought I was rude one morning when we'd both had far too much coffee to drink on an empty stomach.
