gareth41: I have adblock installed but its turned off most of the time unless the site is auto playing videos and going overboard displaying loads of other flashing rubbish. There are becoming more and more sites out there hiding content from adblock users and you don't even know that its being hidden. When I research different things through Google, I like to know that iv'e got the best chance of finding what i'm looking for, and this is not possible if some sites are possibly hiding content.
gareth41: Its easy to detect ad blockers, I run a business providing free wifi out of cafe's etc... and its supported by advertising. I insert a php script called ads.php on the splash page with a query string like ?advert=123456, this its inserted into an html img tag. When called will set a session variable, if the session variable is not found, the user simply doesn't see any free wifi options and a payment option shows instead asking them to select a number of mb/gb.
UHD: I found this to be an interesting read this morning. What are others' thoughts on the attention economy?

Just plain chrome on win 7.
I get the nasty red banner.
I also get the adverts.
If I am going to get the nag-banner, perhaps I should just install an ad-blocker as well.
