So I guess if enough people are unhappy with the size you could copy Google (who I am sure have a whole team of usability researchers who study the tiniest of details like this one) and go with 13px.

I wouldn't be surprised if the final decision was one person's preference. Human behaviour being what it is, techs put in their preference or a manager/administrator wants to make a decision.

Some of you may remember the days before PCL5 (the 1980s) when the default LaserJet font sizes were all even point sizes. Whenever the even-numbers were questioned because, for example, 11pt was more useful than 10pt, we were told that the HP engineers preferred even numbers.

The new font-size is good, it's comfy.

The Blog block, Friend block and Discussion block have "word-break: break-all;" perhaps remove that and have "text-align: justify;" instead?

Internet is my backyard...

Big Font kinda feels like i have gone back to the 90s website feel.

Can the font be customized to user preference in setting ( so that i can go back to previous )

The new font size is heaps better IMO. It's still tiny in the editor but MF has explained the reasons for that.

Using Firefox on 27" 2560x1440 monitor on W10.

in Linux (openSUSE) there doesn't appear to be any difference whatsoever for the posts. (although I always thought geekzone forum looked much better in linux than windows so it's good there is no change)
The signatures and user info (left column) appear to be overly large though.
This is consistent in both chrome / chromium / firefox

I can identify with all of the opinions articulated, even those that are contradictory.

There is nothing like fonts and typefaces to drive online conversation ;)

Things seem more consistent on chrome for Android. But it's looking ugly as hell on desktop!

I like the desktop now. One single font for everything, just different sizes. Make sure you clear your cache just in case.

Chrome on Android is a pain as it won't word wrap.

As for word wrap in those homepage blocks, yes, I know about them and was testing something else before - will remove soon.

I will fix the editor later tonigh - need to make a copy of the CSS and change it there, then point from the init call.

At least the one thing it bugged me on mobile is fixed: up until now the forums listing had BIG fonts for some forum descriptions. Now it's all consistent.

The signatures use the same size as the text.

pdath: I just tried the site on an iPhone browser, and 14px seems best to me. I wouldn't use anything smaller.

If you really want to get that tricky, try using a @media in your style sheet to use 13px for desktop, and 14px for mobile. Or keep it simple and stick with 14px and that seems readable on everything I just tested. 14px seems a good compromise for all displays.

We already have something in place - if you visit the main site on mobile we don't show the sidebar in forum pages and hide the square ads, only leaving the leaderboard ones.

Like the new font, but agree its too big. Especially the fonts in the user info panel to the left of the posts.

.forumBox setting to 12px, looks better for the side panel IMO.

13px looks better IMO for the main stuff, 12px one could argue is too small.

Its all really subjective, and personally if it bugs me I'll just override it. But not everyone will want to do that.

I've just recently converted our companies web site across to being responsive. Assuming the sections that don't get displayed on a mobile site are in "div", it is as easy as marking those section as "hidden" for devices with small screens in the CSS.

There is a risk of getting hammered in page rank. Maybe there is a way around it retaining the same mobile url and some layout defaults for the mobile url.
