freitasm: Now, now... This wouldn't be fair with everyone else here. What do you think?

Whoops. Should've kept the idea quiet. :)

Unfortunately, Auckland is out for me and Christchurch looks unlikely (depending on the timing), but I hope everyone has a blast all the same! I look forward to the photos.

We turned up late (about 6:30pm), walked around a bit. Didn't see any 'Geekzone' obvious areas. Went upstairs and got a drink and chatted to the barman. Got told to sod off from up there (nicely tho) due to some other function (phantom of the opera?) being held on that floor. Went downstairs. Didn't smell any odour deu geek or see any 'fellow geekzoners here' signs. We stood around for a bit and watched people arrive. Finished our drinks and left. We could've done with some direction like 'wear a white rose behind your left ear and look for the 6ft 4 guy with pink dreddlocks named Sue'.

Where were you guys?

We were at the last table, just by the stairs going up. Before that (until 7pm) in one of the round tables by the bar.

I knew we should have made all the PDA's more obvious - or next time make a few people wear some ThinkGeek t-shirts...

Anyway - it was a great night, and good to meet some fellow tweakers and geekers (and a few geeks-in-law). Would be keen to do it again - don't know whether I could make it down to Christchurch, but should be able to get to Welly if the one after next is there.
