Moved over to my windows machine and went through same process and it worked a treat, Appears I am who I say I am 🥳

Was too clunky and slow on my iPhone in Safari, on my PC I tried Firefox, kept saying couldn't access camera, eventually worked on MS Edge

Worked fine on Chrome on Win 10. Was a very simple and painless process, quite impressive really. Guess I better behave now.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Nice and easy, switched from my laptop to phone as lighting wasn't that great, but entire process was over and done with in 30 seconds!

@freitasm: Is there a way to become trusted without a physical meeting? I live in the wop wops and don't get out or mix much at my age. I would be happy to take you out to lunch if you ever pass through Hastings, but what possibilities other than that are there? I have never met a mod in person, but I have visited and been visited by another trusted user who has done some work for me and I'm sure would be happy to vouch for me. I would also be happy to submit ID documents privately.

Good question. The Trust status was given on having met someone in a real-life situation - possibly in a more lasting relationship than just a quick meeting (so that tracking is possible). This is a bit different than just meeting once as before.

The ID verification is a bit different and should cover the situation where trust is to be given but we haven't met. I did think of giving automatic trust to ID verified users but decided not to as these are really two different things.

Trusted and ID Verified users should have similar rights. For example I am thinking of allowing both to bypass minimum posts required for participation in some sub-forums, or to not lock their own topics so they can reply at any time without having to request unlock.

Another thing is the Trust and ID Verified allows us to have peace of mind when it comes to some areas of the forum - as I mentioned trying to make sure John Doe doesn't join posts ten times with superfluous comments and then go trying to sell stuff in Offers/Wanted (or people who sold stuff, got paid and never delivered). If you are Trusted or ID verified we have traceability.

Similarly, people wanting to play in the Politics sub-forum will have to reach a higher threshold to be allowed to post there - Trusted, ID Verified or have a very large number of posts. Geekzone is not a political or trading platform but we let people do it for the benefit of the community. And we have to protect this community, so everyone can feel safe.

We already do a lot of automated stuff in the background - check for bots, check for post content, IP addresses, etc. We still rely on human moderation though because we need it. Trusted and ID verification are just more signals for us to use in this task.

It doesn't bother me that much but I guess I might feel annoyed if someone refused to sell to me or buy from me because I don't have a verified or trusted tag, in spite of having done multiple deals over the years with no issues. There is a possible danger that as these tags gain weight, those without them will be negatively impacted.
