Thanks everyone. I see people really want to be part of a real group - and I see we are receiving quite a few verifications today... Thanks!

Wouldnt recognize me as being same person on license. Mainly I think because 1) I've lost a lot of hair :D  2) It's a bad quality photo on the license  3) Card has always had some big mark going through it distorting it a bit.

So I'll need to try an alternative method....

A passport should work too.

See I gained a lot of hair and my passport photo was terrible yet it worked just fine for me.

Tasks:

- Integrate verification code and platform (scripts, database)
- Add the ID-verified tag to forum posts and public profile pages
- Release to beta testers so they can get ID-verified and show up in discussions with the appropriate tag (and badge!)
- Modify forums so that some will be open only to Trusted or ID-verified users in addition to users with a much higher post count than today's limits. These will be Offers/Wanted, Finance, Startups and Politics.
- Introduce the manual/automated required ID verification for edge cases

I have updated our Privacy Policy to read "The Personal Information collected is available to ID-verified Geekzone administrators and moderators for the exercise of their roles. "

Somewhat relevant question - noting that redaction policies aren't something that Geekzone has access to as it's a paid feature, are you redacting any of the data manually at all? For example are you redacting the government ID numbers and/or DOB etc so that Geekzone and its staff don't become a juicy target for identity theft?

(I've had a quick chat with someone from Persona that makes me a little more comfortable with their commitment to privacy, notably that they cannot find any of my details in their system despite me being pretty sure I had to use it for an AML KYC before - meaning that redaction does result in that data being irrecoverable).

No. I am not manually changing the data.

Also note that only ID-verified moderators have access granted to the platform and 2FA is enforced for all accounts in that platform. I am the only one with access to a geekzone.co.nz address and to the privacy@geekzone.co.nz email.

@freitasm Persona is a startup (circa 02/20) that appears to have its registered office in a business incubator centre?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Fairly impressive; as my license must be getting close to 10 years old, AND I was wearing a silly santa hat during the validation photos...

The only "glitch" was it said it couldn't use my PC/tablet webcam and dropped me over to my phone; despite my live photo coming up on the screen on the Phablet; but that was probably due to the horrible lighting conditions (back lit from exterior windows making for very dark/unclear facial features)

It's currently in the growth phase with VC backing, it's not unusual to be physically located in incubators during that stage. It's actually probably a good sign they won't up and disappear. It's their security posture that's more important though - how they secure the data and access to it, etc - they detail it somewhat on their website and on request provide copies of it (I assume Mauricio has read some of it to be comfortable enough to use it). To their credit, if you email them with questions about their privacy practices, literally the CEO himself will respond. They're ex-Square and Dropbox people at the helm.
