Anybody know when this is actually launching? I heard it was yesterday but it still says it's coming soon.

$1.99 for downloads to both PC and phone with expanded catalogue could make things interesting..

No big deal... Vodafone is just doing what Telecom NZ is doing for ages: allowing downloaded music to be place-shifted to a PC.

maybe so but the drop in price is good

$3.50 to $1.99 (not sure why its not just $2)

Although VF appear to have a web store as well as a mobile one; Telecom only have mobile.

And while your at it can someone explain why the most popular data service in NZ is charged at about $1,300,000/Gb??? (SMS)

It's lunch time now and still no signs of action.

This is a good move, though. I think the previous price of $3.49 per song, and the inability to shift music to another device would have been the main factors preventing this from becoming more mainstream. It's positive to see Vodafone addressing both of these issues.

Just want to add something postive

Its a pretty flash looking site and seems to have a lot of content and a what we need in NZ is more music stores since Mr Ipod is not here in NZ.

The albums are a bit cheaper $17.99 compared to going in store but cheaper at digirama at $16.99

Not sure of the Bit Rate on this thoe as I dont wont to pay for a album and find its at only at 128kbps but I did download a FMT which are done at 128kbps - at $1.99 compared to digirama at $1.69

But whats with the Ringtones at $4.50 seems the wrong way round and only $1.39 at digirama.

I did have a packet url sniffer running on my machine and when I downloaded the FMT I saw links to digirama here in NZ and the ringtones are prob by vodafones other suppliers and may have something to do with cost.

So bit of a wee markup there but the service looks slick with news, the latest NZ music, lots of competitions, gig guides and as its all tied in with Vodafone Live you can can retreive your ringtone etc easily and I can see this as being a popular choice with the younger generation and a bit of a cash cow for Vodafone.

Tried to check Telecoms site but asked for your Telecom details so I couldnt compare that to the Vodafone Music Store.

Anybody else used the store?

I've just tried it, and here are my first impressions:

- The store is easy to navigate, appears to have a good selection of music, and having songs billed to your phone account is very convenient.
- I really like the fact that it keeps track of your historical purchases and allows you to download them again. Other online stores don't appear to be entirely upfront about what position you would be in if you replaced your computer and wanted to transfer your music to the new one.
- The song that I downloaded was sent to my phone without any problems and the sound quality is acceptable given the 2Mb file size.
- As soon as I attempted to download the song to my PC, Windows Media Player opened and told me that it couldn't download the file. Making another attempt at downloading the file required me to go to my list of historical downloads, which was empty apart from a message telling me that this feature won't be accessible for another week or so.

So, in a nutshell the concept is really good, but being unable to download songs to my PC makes the whole thing utterly useless to me.
