I had bad speed and throughput from Telecom, so moved to Orcon.
I also got bad speed and throughput from Orcon, so moved to Orcon Genius. A little better, but not the miracle I was hoping!
Paid Coffeebaron (geekzone forum member) to check my wiring, funnily enough all good.
Rang Orcon like 30 times. The last guy I spoke to was pretty good, he tried different profiles after 4 modem reboots we realised that these different profiles (power boost and interleaving tweaks) made my line worse or no better, So a Chorus tech was called out.
Chorus tech told me he changed a cable in my comms cupboard (I live in an apartment) - this made very little difference and I don't know why he did that after I told him we'd already tested my cabling.
I asked him if he re-made the port connection but couldn't get a straight answer, 'yeah I've done everything at the exchange'
So I decided to go with Vodafone now, knowing I will probably have to pay $180 penalty fee from Orcon.
So I checked out the plans and put my address into VF's site.
I'm in the Red Zone. So I call them up and sign up.
The guy got my username wrong so I called back tonight to only find out that changing it would only slow my churn. No big whoop, they can add in an alias and tbh I use gmail anyway and the modem they are sending out is already pre-configured with the wrong address, so too tricky to change.
Then the tech tells me I'm on UBS!! and the price would be $80 (for the Ideal pack)
I saw it for $75 (because I was in the Red Zone) and now I'm not?! what gives!
He also said something about some how people in the same apartment can be in the redzone and others not (!) How does that work?
I actually saw I was in the Redzone when I keyed my address in wrong the first time I was scoping out the plans online.
Is is a capacity issue or what?
Will there be a performance difference between Redzone (I'm guessing LLU right?) and UBS?
I am assuming so!
I'm already pissed and my connection hasn't even arrived.
Sick of getting @!#$ed over.
