Hi,

I was wondering if paradise.net.nz have changed their spam filters. My death2spam.net acount hasnt picked up any spam coming to my address in the last week, and i used to have 56% spam before that.

My last spam was dated 9 Dec.

Not complaining but just wondering what changed and given the problems that Xtra has been having, wondering why I am not reading about.

Paradise sent a message a few weeks ago presenting their new "policy": e-mail deemed as spam would be deleted, instead of being filtered or forwarded to the recipient.

It worries me because this could pottentialy lead to people not receiving false positives.

Does anyone know if this policiy is in place?

Hi,

I know that the spam box in the webmail interface has been empty for some time. Which I am assuming means that they are implementing the policy of just deleting all spam, that their filters detect. It is just that the filters seem to have got a whole lot better, 56% to 0% is a massive jump.

I have a paradise account and since the middle of last week have got no SPAM either

I have not missed any Emails that I am aware of either!

So far so good

TelstraClear has just completed a major upgrade of the e-mail platform for paradise.net and clear.net. Part of this upgrade involved a re-architecture of our spam defences. We now have a two-tier architecture:

*** Edge defence based on Ironport technology. (Blocks 80+% of spam threats.)

*** Mailbox defence based on Symantec Brightmail technology.

The two layers combined are proving very effective in reducing spam. (They have also significantly reduced the load on our mail platform in general.)

freitasm: you are right, we did change our mail policy. Our edge defence (Ironport) blocks spam from well known botnets and spam sources and throttles mail from suspect sources. Our mailbox defence (Symantec Brightmail) performs the heavy-duty content filtering and sidelines spam and suspect spam into customers "Spam" folders.

In addition to the above, we have increased mailboxes sizes to 100M for paradise.net. (Clear.net will receive 100M early next year as well.)

Hope this explains the changes that we have implemented.
