I am in kapiti on Warp speed cable and have noticed a lot more buffering of youtube sites of late.

Anyone else have issues here?

I am seeing the same problem. In the last four days or so YouTube video clips will start playing fine, the buffer seems to get ahead as expected but playback stops at random intervals. You have to click twice on the video to get it going again from the same point.

Almost like the buffer is "dirty".

I, too. Mainly in the evenings.

In saying that, someone in the US I speak to is also noticing lag issues with YouTube and Vimeo. So it may be a YouTube issue, but possibility not.

Behodar: I've been having the same issue for the past few days... and I'm with Maxnet.


TelstraClear installed their own Google box/cache so any issues with Maxnet wouldn't be related.

It'll be interesting to see if Vodafone have made any changes to the configuration.

I have also noticed my WoW ingame latency has crept up from 150-160 to 180-190 over the past few weeks.

Maybe VF are throttling intl bandwidth...

Hmmm. This is getting annoying now. A 50 seconds video stops half way even though the timeline indicator shows it fully loaded.

Agreed...beginning to think it could be local congestion...wasnt really amused by JohnR's response..if thats the way he is going to respond..he would be better to not respond at all.

Same issues on TCL/Voda Adsl, so its not just limited to cable customers.

Been having the same issues on Warpseed as well, i did come across a 'how to stop youtube sucking' link which was a firewall edit which seemed to help, can't post the link as i'm too new but search how to stop youtube sucking and it's the top link see if it helps.

That trick is well and good if you are not using the Vodafone/TelstraClear DNS. Seeing there's a YouTube cache inside their own network, the IP addresses in that blog post may not have any impact in the current situation.

If that worked for you I can only think your LAN/PC is using a third party DNS, or you are using a proxy.

On another note, does anyone know if the TelstraClear YouTube cache is now available to Vodafone users as well? If something changed and the cache is not being access by Vodafone customers then we could bee seeing some overloading happening...

Well i did say seemed to, could be just my imagination. Using standard DNS settings no proxy. Maybe Voda needs to clean the cache hehe i don't know just guessing but when you can't even watch a 480p res video on Youtube and you are on Warpseed then something is definitely wrong.
