Anyone know where I can get an adapter for a Nokia 6101 - I need a pop port to 2.5 mm headset jack (not the standard Nokia 3.5 mm jack).  Vodafone shops don't have them, nor do Dick Smith's.  Any where else to try please? Anyone?

You will probably have to solder up the wires for an adaptor cable yourself.  But the connectors should be available here:

http://nz.farnell.com

or here:

Being such small connectors, it will be a fiddly job and you will need a soldering iron with a very fine tip.

These things sometimes pop (no pun intended) up on Trademe at times, have a look on there.

It's not much fun making the things, so I'd consider that a last resort - but it's a resort nonetheless :)

Have you asked DSE to do a spare part order?

Thanks for your suggestions, much appreciated.  I did think of wiring one myself, but how do you know which pins of the pop port to wire up?  I had also thought of clipping the standard headset off and wiring a connector to the lead of the standard headset, which would reduce my chances of connecting the wrong wires to 50% (only two wires). Any suggestions about pop port wiring?
Once again thanks for your help.

Clipping the end off a standard headset cable sounds like by far the easiest way.  Then you have only two wires to connect and being a headset, it doesn't matter which way around they go.

I'm not familiar with the "Pop Port" exactly, but can imagine it is one of those multi-pin in-line connectors found on the bottom of many mobile phones.  Say 10 pins or more, did I get the right idea?

If so, the only way to know the correct pins to connect would be to get hold of a Technical Manual for your phone which should list the pinouts.  However, the manufacturers often don't release these manuals to the general public, so you would have to find a service centre which might be willing to copy the relevant page(s) for you.

It all sounds too much trouble to be honest, much easier to cut the end off an existing headset cable and reconnect just two wires Cool

Hi Infinity,

Another source might be Phonestuff, in Wellington. They advertise these on our favourite NZ online auction regularly, at around $16 to $18.

Cheers,

George
